Bible Studies & Lessons - Perserverance

PERSERVANCE2 Timothy 2:1-8 1 You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that you have heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit you to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 3  You therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4  No man that wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier. 5  And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. 6 The husbandman that labors must be first partaker of the fruits. 7  Consider what I say; and the Lord give you understanding in all things.  8  Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
TAKE PERSONAL INVENTORY & WHEN WE WERE WRONG PROMPLY ADMITTED IT.
These verses remind us that we are in an ongoing battle daily and sometimes, moment by moment.  The biggest weapon we have is our faith in Jesus Christ for it is His strength that allows us to do all things through Him, not in our own self.  Sometimes we think we can handle whatever comes our way, but this is a lie and a delusion.  We truly have no control over life; life happens.
However, we do have a decision is our attitude and thoughts. We can choose to quit or fight as the verses above tell us to do.  Fighting isn't easy or quick but it is the ONLY WAY to obtain victory.
Every morning I open my eyes, my personal fight begins.  Satan is ever present awaiting for me to awake but so is Jesus Christ.  It is then I have to choose to whom will I listen.  I MAKE THE CHOICE!  I choose Christ.
I then remember the following verses to combat my foe, Satan, who only desires to kill, steal and destroy me.  Jesus tells me in Psa_118:24  This is the day which the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.   The next thought I choose to think is Jer 29:11  For I know the thoughts that think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. The choose another scripture to fight Satan:  Psa 37:23  The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delights in his way.24  Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholds him with his (God's) hand.  And to this I remember that God states HE has numbered my days.  All these thoughts and scriptures are important to fight Satan's lies.
By what God's word states, the very fact that I am alive again today is God's choice.  Because He has given me this day, He has ordered my steps and I will not fall because He will uphold me.  Because he has given me this day, there is work for me to do for God and I have been given this day by God to rejoice and be happy in it.  Now, God would not tell me these things if they were not true.
Satan is a liar and if he can get hold of your thoughts before you fill your thoughts with the truth of God, he's already set you up for misery.  This is not God's plan!  God has designed and created you with a great purpose which only you can fulfill!  A job with a great "expected" end that God has designed just for you.  Can you see why you must preserver and fight Satan?  What a glorious prize and life God must have just for you that Satan is working so hard to lie and destroy you.
