Bewitching Hours

I love being a 24/7 person. Every hour of every day has its own special magic. The body's need for rest willnae allow for experiencing all those hours in succession, but the call to shift my sleep schedule to allow for periods of experiencing all those hours at one time or another remains intense. As I look back on the year's of intense, chronic insomnia, I often wonder if the main peacemaker in that war was dropping the daybreaker logics. I cannae be a *morning person* or a *night person*. The clock doesnae seem to have much bearing on when I get tired or when I feel energized. The equation is more complex and shifty than scheduling disciples can fathom, be they morning people or night people. For me, at least. I'll let other folks sort their own.

Weather conditions are one of the bigger variables in my own sleep equation. This week finds me in the sweltering, arid heat of July on the Southern Great Plains. By 10 a.m., the heat is stifling enough to fry an egg on a sun baked rock. The ambient heat continues for a goodly while past sunset. Noon to midnight are downright sensible sleeping hours in my estimation. That heat can be lethal.

This week's bewitching hours are enjoying the gentle soundtrack of GS's sleep murmmers on the couch. 'Tis a bewitching soundtrack, to be certain, but last night's bedtime drama carried indications that the soundtrack has been playing too long. A week is a long time in the life of a four-year-old. Last night's drama was a wish for home. Been great, Gammy, but it ain't home. Yesterday was the original due date for making the 3 hour drive back to his home, but that was postponed for the sake of letting Hubs get some grand time this weekend. At least for last night, not even the prospect of time with Gampy was enough to ease his homesickness.

We accepted a bid for running electric to both barns this week. Work is scheduled to be done July 12th and 13th. Simultaneously, we have been putting the finishing touches on the next phase in the Breach of Contract drama in the River Region. The two together make quite the contrast. Sure hope the electrical contract pans out better than the contract for the aeroponics lab. We see. Life willing, we will soon be able to take fuller advantage of the cooler night time hours.
