Between Ignorance and Denial
The flock care has been in steady decline since the turkey train fell off its tracks. How many normals ago was that? How many months? Facts available, but at the moment I donae care enough to do the research. The clutter of details which arenae making it over my busted giv-a-damn is reaching landfill proportions. 'Tis amazing how fast those little things add up.
I am fairly confident it was a predator attack which scattered the elder flock last week. Nay a big surprise in my personal inventory. That would be **THE** reason I used to take the time to close their coop every evening. Used to. . . The coop is positioned to be convenient to the old house. We could fit four or six suburban houses between the two houses. A pleasant walk for me but far more time consuming than I can easily fit between the bedtime/wake-up needs of three still-young children. I knew the predator attack would happen eventually. My greater surprise was that it hadnae happened sooner. I got snippey with Hubs over forcing his surprised theories on me. No shit Sherlock. . . Go away and let me process my grief.
Hubby's bee care is in a similar state. The farm handy who had to move out to make room for the children is tending hubby's urban hives, but Hubs and I seldom have enough chat time to keep up with each other's business. I am far from certain how that relatioship is progressing, but I havenae a doubt how much Hubby misses tending the hives himself. Girl howdy, I miss those evening glasses of libation while we watch the sun set behind the coop. Hubs tells me he does, too. If I am translating correctly, the birds and the bees miss those evening glasses of libation even more than we do. Proof unavailable, but I earnestly believe they are even more aware than I am of how many things in nature love a good chicken dinner with honey on top. I bet the flowers and trees miss those evening libations, too.
In the snippets of dialog Hubs and I have been able to snatch inside this week's normal, we havenae a clue how we are going to pull those threads forward, but it sure feels like we oughta. In theory, it oughta be good for the children to be involved with the birds and the bees and flowers and the trees and the ways that they weave into the bio-web.
Works in progress? ? ?
