Best Things to bring back from Taiwan

I’m not sure how other hotels in Taoyuan are like, but I would not recommend Majesty hotel. In case I don’t have time to write a proper review, this hotel is way too old and dated for our liking. It also seemed to be near seedy areas as we saw middle-aged women scantily dressed along the quiet streets. Done with the city attractions, the remaining daylight was dedicated to some cute stuff.
The food there was decent, but do note that the selection is limited to Taiwanese food. Hehuan Wuling – highest altitude road in TaiwanA short drive away is 3158 Cafe. We parked our car and walked towards the trail entrance of Hehuanshan East Peak. Let’s 台東名產 try to conquer this second-highest peak in Hehuanshan. Steep climb up Hehuanshan East PeakFor better continuity, check out Part 1 of our Central Taiwan travelogue where we talked about the different modes of transport getting to Taichung City.

And we are very confident with our command of Chinese because both of us scored “A+” in this subject. By the time I was there (9.20am), many items were sold out. So I could only order egg crepes of different variations – Char Siew or spring onion fillings.
Almost everything seen in this restaurant, from dining room sets to lampshades and pots, is made with corrugated paper – Carton King is no doubt a mind-blowing wonderland of fantasy and imagination. You will find paper-made hats and handbags in the souvenir shop as well as all kinds of creative paper artworks on display in the exhibition hall . The creativity is mind-blowing, but the food is nothing special. We suggest you save your stomach for the authentic Yunnan cuisine served up around Cingjing Farm.
With the help of a translator, one day I’ll be able to figure out some of the recipes and prepare my own ice desserts. Taipei is famous for its night markets where you can find everything from tote bags to socks, touristy gifts, hats and, of course, street food. Night markets are good places to taste fresh food cheaply, like sticky tofu, fried chicken on a stick, pepper buns, and coffin bread (a soup-filled piece of deep-fried bread). I haven’t seen a lot of packaged foods but they do exist if you keep your eyes open for colourful candy boxes, sun cakes, and even pork jerky. Upon arrival, take a boat to see the beauty of Lake Ashi.

According to legend, when the land road was not opened, all supplies were supplied through sea transportation. Since there were nine households in the village, they were required to prepare the “nine portions” whenever they bought the goods. Overtime, people named it Jiufen, which means nine portions in Chinese. In the 1930s, with the rise in the price of gold, Jiufen, the splendid grandeur of the “Asian Golden Capital” was created.
Service was top-notch and we were even gifted with free professionally-taken photos. After another 50 minutes of drive, we were finally back at Cingjing. Seeing how highly-raved Chicken King restaurant was, we decided to have our lunch there. Hmm….our experience was different from what we’ve read online which mostly complimented this place as being value for money. A chicken cost TW$650 and a two-person’s meal would exceed TW$1200. Now, what you’ll be reading below offers just enough information on the things you can do in Taichung and around.

The trip was one of the best we have experienced in many years of travel to a wide range of destinations throughout the world. This is a seat in coach tour; guaranteed departure every Saturday all year round starting from 1 April 2023, subject to availability and final confirmation. Considering the journey and time, I will not recommend visiting Monster Village as it’s a waste of time. There wasn’t any rides, or games; possible interactions were minimal.
Between the several night markets and countless department stores, you won't be left wanting for activities. Make sure you visit the National Museum of Natural Science during your trip and go hiking in the hills nearby.
