On occasion Perry Knifeworks is lucky enough to offer custom fixed blade and folding knives from some of the greatest knife makers in the world. This section contains some one of a kind model of knives. Rare to find, these knives are available in both fixed and folding blades. Knives have been crucial to the survival of many cultures throughout history and around the world and were customized to fill a specific need. Today, custom knives are ideal for the knife enthusiast who wants to invest in a high-quality piece of functional art. After using a custom knife and knowing how much time and energy its maker put into the design and production of it, it can be hard to return to using mass-produced knives.
Their Red Class, meant to be a budget line, was manufactured in China , and at least some of what they made for HK and the NRA were imported. But they’ve cut all those lines out of their catalogs and became an exclusively Made-in-the-USA company. The only part that comes from overseas is the steel. For now they only use Elmax steel, which is a very high end powder steel made by Uddeholm in Sweden. On the whole, though, all American-made A.G. Russell knives are the A.G.
They claim they source their materials from the States as well, and based on what they’re using, I’m inclined to believe them. This company is pretty well known as the name behind the pliers-based multitool. They’re so established in that area that even when another company like Gerber makes a multi-tool with pliers, our instinct is to call it a Leatherman. Through all their brands, the company specializes in making tough tactical blades, usually with military and law enforcement in mind. Their stuff is mostly done through CNC machines in their Arizona factory.
They expanded quickly, incorporated under the same name around the turn of the century, and set up shop in a larger building out of which they are still operating. To add to their long tradition, OKC came out with the Old Hickory line in 1924 and have consistently pumped out variations of that line ever since. They’ve added and subtracted from that line up over the years , but the Old Hickories you can get today aren’t all that different from what people were getting in the 1920’s.
Our handle materials include domestic woods, Exotic woods, antler, bone, Micarta and new resin/epoxy based synthetics. All of mycustom kniveswill come complete with a custom leather sheath created by Carl Thomas of Mississippi. Each sheath is created with custom fit and finish in mind. Carl can also create acustom knifesheath indicated by your preference and specifications with a different number of tooling or hide materials. A custom hand made sheath completes the look of your custom made knife.

Bladesmiths employ a variety of metalworking techniques similar to those used by blacksmiths, as well as woodworking for knife and sword handles, and often leatherworking for sheaths. Each knife handle is custom finished individually just for you! No two are alike; various Exotic woods from all over the world are used in the finishing process by Jim McBeth. I recently placed a large order of knives with custom laser engraving for gifts to sponsors of a charity banquet with a pretty short turnaround.
I love the look of Cyrillic typography and so I’m a huge fan of these vessels for salt, pepper, sugar, and the like. Some of the most common and useful Bulgarian pottery items you’ll find include earthenware pots painted beautifully and perfect for serving some hearty Balkan food. Other useful pieces of pottery include plates, goblets, vessels for drinking rakia, bowls.
The knifemakers are from many countries -- Brazil, USA, France, Slovakia, Finland, Japan, Italy, Canada, South Africa and more -- displaying a stunning variety of materials and techniques. Ceramic rods provide the best touch up possible between sharpening. By removing very little material, the blade is honed to a razor edge. Fine ceramic rods will hone a knife to the most optimal edge.
Bulgarians love to read and you can find a great stash of used books all over Bulgarian cities. While many won’t come in handy unless you can read Bulgarian, a Bulgarian version of a beloved book can be a nice souvenir. You’ll also find a growing number of English-language books sold by used book vendors across the city. If you’re a fan of religious art or want to get something for the Orthodox believer in your life, then a hand-painted icon is a wonderful, albeit slightly expensive, piece of artwork to bring home. I found these adorably retro pieces of kitchenware at a secondhand shop in Plovdiv’s Old Town, but you can find reused kitchen items all over Bulgaria. Bulgarians love to re-use kitchenware and all over Bulgaria you’ll find secondhand shops selling vintage items for cooking.
