best Christmas present ever

well, my oldest son and his girlfriend came over today for dinner and he, of course, doesn't have a lot of money and I don't expect much. He did give me some candy that is like cocaine to me (Fierra Roches)  - that stuff is goood (coconut and chocolate, yumm).
Anyway, his biological father has come back into his life and tried to be his buddy even to the point of asking Ben to put in some good words for him with my ex (which is stupid because she left him because he's a real louse and that boat has sailed years ago).  When Ben was very small I got together with his mom (now my ex) and raised him as my own and adopted him and now he sees how much of a clueless jerk he is. Ben said today that he is so glad that I raised him and he did not grow up with his biological father.
This totally validates what I did with him over the years when he was  young. I had always wondered what he would think if he ever got to talk with his biological father. Now he finds out how lucky he was to grow up with me as Dad and not him.

Absolutely Jeff, you are a great dad and put your kids needs ahead of your own often! I\'m glad to have you as a friend, here on DS and in real life.
PS, we\'re having Ro and daddy issues here too, so it stands out even more in my mind how lucky Ben and Josh are to have you as a dad. :)
