Bernice
I've lost an aunt. Aunt Bernice. She was the second child in my mom's family. Right behind Mom. My aunt Margueritte followed and my uncle Bert followed her. I lost uncle Bert several years ago. Margueritte is my only aunt left and she won't be around much longer. Since Mom was the oldest of the 4 children and I was born 10 years after Sara, I've been lucky to have had my aunts and uncle as long as I have. Bernice was the divorced aunt. She had a daughter,Priscilla, older than me. Bernice must have been divorced either when I was very young or before I was born. I can't remember her with her husband, but I did see him a few times. He was never a part of the holiday family get-togethers. Bernice and Priscilla lived with my mom's dad who we called "Pa", in a small farming community about a 15 minuite drive outside Waco. Pa had a small general store there. We saw her when we went to see him just about every Sunday. She kinda stuck out at family gatherings since she was the only one without a husband. She never dated after the divorce. Just devoted herself to raising Priscella and did a great job. Priscilla moved to Colorado after she graduated from college, leaving Bernice alone in the house, since Pa had died several years earlier. She reached out to me after Mom died, calling me on the phone, sending me notes and Birthday cards. She began losing her health after Mom died and it got to a point where Priscilla moved her closer to her. Even when her health was going down, she managed to send me little cards of encouragement. It got to be that I could barely read her writing and her phone calls were hard to understand. But, I knew she cared. I will miss her.

I have and Aunt Bernice too... i\'m so sorry for your loss, Mike. It\'s hard to lose a loved one... it makes us think of our own mortality. Lots of hugs and kisses, and some back rubs too. Deb :o(
