Being There For Others

I spent the last two years in college and it has been a great adventure because I never did well in school as a child so I never thought I would go to college. When I stop and think about it, I have been to college three times so-to-speak. First, I went for my GED and then Cosmetology, and last for my Administrative Assistant Degree which I just graduated May 17, 2013.
I have grown quite a bit in the last two years and I wish my mother could have been here to celebrate this time with me, but she is Home with our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ and I wouldn't want to change that for anything.
I just want people to know how important it is to put others before self. I have always known this but have not acted on it until recently. There are so many people that are hurting for one reason or another and even though we may have been hurt by the things people have said or done to us...we have to remember what Jesus went through to pay for our sins. If he can forgive us for our wrong doings, then we should be willing to forgive those who have wronged us.
Life is to short and we never know when our time is up so we should always make things right with our friends and family.
I had to do a life story project for my communication class and this got me really thinking about all the animosity that was between members of my family and how my mother became ill to the point she was hospitalized and ended up in a coma which eventually took her life. All I could think about was how much fighting there was between my daughter and her grandpa and an Uncle. My mother always wanted us to be close and that hasn't happened. I have tried to make peace with my dad and brother Dave, but there is still something missing and I don't know what else to do.
I am like my mother in that aspect of having family close, but when I am the only one who seems to care to make it happen then what is the point?!
I will love them always, but I don't know if we will ever get close again.
