Being tested

Let go and Let God. It was so much easier to do that in some ways when my son wasn't doing as well. I know it sounds strange but I hoped for consequences when he was struggling because I thought of them as being interventions. Now that he is doing "better" it's so much harder to let go when I see him not following through on all of his responsibilities. He's come a long way (despite the fact he's still engaging in "stuff") and it is a bit frustrating. He didn't follow through on his probation (I don't believe he's taking it seriously) and therefore was issued a warrant. So now he's serious - for about a minute - until he hurt his ankle. "I can't go to AA - I hurt my ankle and have a doctor's excuse for work". Yet he can go out!  Now we find out that he can't get an assessment for another two weeks. He was ordered to go last Friday and his court date is tomorrow. He wants me to call other places but I told him I can't - he's of age and I can't - legally.  Great. Next week he is supposed to leave for school and has a leased apartment that we co-signed for.  I didn't want to but my husband was snowballed - as usual.
Letting Go!  Thank goodness I have an Al Anon meeting today.
P.S. Okay - he may have had some improvement but I've been fooling myself thinking that he's doing as well as I've been trying to believe. Didn't call his boss about his ankle. Isn't following through on stuff - maybe I should rethink what I've been trying to convince myself of.
