Being honest and getting help
The more I'm able to be honest with myself about what I can and can't do, the more I get what I need from others who can help me. Tonight I admitted to Tom that I have a lot of weaknesses and limitations about raising Josh and that it's just too hard for me to stick with discipline and setting limits. He said okay and that he would take care of that part, as long as I backed him up with his plan. I told him I would back him up, although it would be hard for me if Josh started crying a lot or (God forbid!) made threats of hurting himself. I don't think he really would hurt himself and I don't think he's that depressed to the point where he would try to hurt himself, but you never know what stings he'll pull next in order to get what he wants. He manipulates me all the time and I always give in to him because I'm just not a strong enough parent to enforce rules and stick with plans. So it felt good to just let Tom do what he does best and stick with what I can do for Josh without feeling like a failure because of my limits.

Good luck to all three of you. You\'re going to need it. Seeing as I know I am miles away, But I would be honored if I could be like a \"big brother\" type figure, if you want, because I never had a brother myself. Let me know if you\'re ok with that
