Being away for so long...

My girlfriend (Tasmara) and I met on OkCupid.com a dating/social website.
At this point in our lives, the two of us had given up hope on ever finding that specific ‘someone’ who would meet all our needs and provide the perfect long-lasting, committed relationship.
But that was before we found each other…

Taz and I have never been apart for any huge, significant amount of time. I think the only time that seemed like it was forever was when she lived two-and-a-half hours away from me (which was when we first got together and were in a long-distance-relationship), but even then it was only a week.
At three months, we were already sharing our first apartment, and for the past two years, we have always been together; working the same job as one-another, sharing an apartment, a bedroom, and holidays, etc.
Sure, things were never perfect and we had our moments of darkness, but nothing that was ever out of the ordinary for a couple trying to build their relationship into something strong and formidable.

But on April 3rd, my baby got shipped out for Basic Military Training inSouth Carolina.
She joined the army over 5-months before that, and it seems like the date came all-too soon. It was hell, having to live without her---coming home to an empty bed, a quiet house, no one to complain about work to, no one to snuggle up against after a hard day, no one to tell them how much you love them, no one to make breakfast for---I hated it, I hated it all.
I was like a hollow shell without her, lonely, vulnerable to all sets of emotions, quiet, but determined to remain strong, because life was not worth throwing her away because of something as small as ‘distance’. But that did not mean it wasn’t tough.

I got a call from her today at 7:16am. In all honesty, I am lucky that I even heard my phone with how tired I have been. Hearing her voice was the most beautiful sound in the world, it was like a new baby’s cry only 1000x better. I could not help but cry as I could hear her smile, heard her laugh again, heard her tell me how much she loved me and missed me.
I cried because she told me how uncomfortable she was in Basic…about the blisters and the lack of sleep. She told me how much she just wanted to come home, but knew that she had to do this, but, I wish I could bring her home…just to know that she is safe and secure. People have been rude to her already, and this will be the longest nine weeks of both of our lives---but we have to keep fighting, have to keep trying so that we can be together. I asked her if she would be able to do this relationship…and she keeps telling me that we are ‘fine’. I can only keep my fingers crossed. Because, she said that after AIT is done, she wants me to propose to me:
Pray for me, please~!!!
