Been Very Busy
Over the past couple of months, I have been very busy. I have been working a lot at my church, trying to get the fellowship area ready to paint. I have had to do all the mowing and trimming the past few months due to sickness of those who pledged to do this. I have done 3 weddings as well.
Even as busy as I am, I try to message those who reciprocate by answering my messages. Many do not acknowledge that I have even written them.
Being a Pastor, takes its' toll and I have done this now for many years. The last vacation I took was in 1985 when my family and I went to Florida. In the past 15 years of Pastoring, I have not missed a Sunday Service. I do double duty. I teach the adult Sunday School class for an hour and then I preach the church service. This month is always a tough month for me. My son, Michael, was killed, 8 yrs. ago the 6th of this month. On that day this year, I spoke at an AA meeting. There was a gentleman there who had 27 years of sobriety. I was the one with the longest. This coming Sept. I will be sober and clean for 40 yrs. When I finished "my story", there were tears everywhere. From that meeting, I received a phone call from a Rehab center that wants me to come speak to their people and their supervisors. I am not proud of my life as a drunk, a drug user and one who ran with 2 different motorcycle gangs but, if telling "my story" to others, inspires them, then I am glad to do it. As a Pastor, it's not easy to turn these pages back and relive my terrible past but, if it helps someone else, it's worth it.
My goal in life, ever since I became a Christian, it to be a blessing to someone, everyday. In a way, it was kind of funny but, the director of the local AA group introduced me as "the local legend of Fayette County". Years ago, I was referred to as my towns "local Hells Angel". what a contrast!!!!
I am just me. I never see myself as anyone special. I just consider myself as "Blessed".

as I have said many times...make sure you make time for yourself. you need to nurture yourself if you want to help others. others can benefit from what you have to offer, only if you are capable. Burning the candle at both ends will help no one. Take an evening off to have a nice dinner with your family, take a nice sunny day off to enjoy a ride. Relax a little
Pee Wee.. I agree with angel. You are so kind and so giving of your time, love and resources, don\'t forget to give to yourself too. You deserve it. You have made a difference in many lives. No doubt in my mind. The fact that you have been a constant and true friend to me is only a small part of what makes you great. Hugs*
