Been a long time, but i'm back....
Hi all, just thought I would write a little about things as I don't visit here as much as I used to. Well, its been just over two years since I had a donor stem cell transplant and 'touch wood' apart from a few bouts of GVHD i am doing well. Can't say life is the greatest but its good. I still have pains in my feet especially if I am on them a while, I get tired very quickly but thankfully my two sons (aged 6 & 5) understand that daddy needs time out.
I am on two immune suppression drugs and steroids, my consultant tried to ween me off the steroids but as soon as we get to below 3mg, 'boom' out comes GVHD, so now we are keeping me on a lowish level (7mg) and trying to reduce one of the immune suppressions, seems to be working as no side effects yet, and dropped half the dose so far.
I hope that anyone who is fighting Myeloma manages to live a long and happy life, it can be done, I was told when I was diagnosed that 50% only live 5 years after diagnosis, fingers crossed that as I have made it past 5 years that I will make it another 5.
