Bed Scare
Had a scare with Kit late last night. He has his favorite places around the house to sleep and do whatever little dogs do when they're not bugging their friends. Kit loves to sleep on his couch(he shares it with me sometimes) when he's not sleeping on me. One of his doggie "caves" is under the end table where he keeps some of his toys and treats. Behind the recliner is another favorite to chew on bones and rawhide. But his all time favorite is the bed. That would be fine with me except he'd rather be UNDER the bed than on top. If I'm changing clothes he'll be with me for a while, then disappear. He's under the bed when we're getting ready for sleep at night and will come up when he hears me sitting on the edge putting on my cpap mask. Well, last night, there was something different. My mask was on, but he wasn't around. I called him and he didn't come. Thought, maybe he was busy with something, but after a few more calls with no results, I got worried. I'd found a video on YouTube about a dog barking at a cat and the cat chasing him that Kit really got into. He'd bark like crazy, ,especially when the dog cried when cornered by the cat. Played it. Heard him barking, but no show. Played it again,,,nothing. He was somehow stuck under the bed! I couldn't get down on the floor to see him since my legs are so bad.(I'm like that lady on t.v.,"I've fallen and I can't get up") I called to him and begged him to please come out to no avail. I knew I couldn't sleep with him under there. I put on some clothes and went across the street to a neighbor who was, luckily, still awake and asked her to come over to help. Kit had gotten his tags caught in the under covering of the box spring and couldn't get loose. The neighbor got to him and there was joy in Mudville. Kit was all over the place jumping on the neighbor and me. He no longer wears his collar and won't unless we go in the car(His training will be a long process for that) or we go for a walk. Thank God for good neighbors! Her family loves Kit and so do her two dogs. She says she'll get me her phone number so I won't have to walk across the street late at night.(it was after 11 when I went to her house.)

Whew! That reminds me of the time when my dog was jumping up on the fence when I wasn\'t around, and got his collar stuck on the fence and he was just hanging there, and yelping his face off, of course, and I had to get a neighbor to help me get him loose. Thank God, some people are still good-hearted. It was so good to hear that your neighbor helped you with Kit. Hugs to both of you!

OH, I bet Kit was so happy. I agree with you, leave it off while Kit is in the house. I bet you are happy your neighbor could help. I know when something happens with one of mine, it is usually in the middle of the night, and nobody would be awake to help. Give Kit a hug for me
