Becoming More Assertive

Wednesday, September 30, 2009 - 6:30 PM Although I seem to be fighting off a cold, or the flu, I am managing to do a few things each day. I feel that it is better for me to be active as much as possible, rather than to sit around doing nothing, and letting my body go to waste.   I called my mental health therapist, Dale, and left a voicemail for him letting him know that I did not call and arrange to have a CNA go on a trip with me during the month of October.   Shortly after doing that, I received an e-mail from my psychologist, Dr. Martin, reminding me that I was not supposed to see her this week because she had to attend a conference. I wrote back telling her that I had not forgotten.  I also told her of my decision not to go on my vacation during October, but had decided to stick with my original decision to go during April. I sent a copy of the e-mail to Dale because I wanted both of them to be on the same page with regard to what I was going to do. I have not received a reply from either of them, but I am not surprised at this.   I intend to write to my brother tomorrow, telling him about this decision as well. He probably will not like what I have to say, but I'm not too enthusiastic with some of the things he had to say to Dale and Dr. Martin about me as well. In fact, I do not intend to have further family counseling sessions with my brother in the near future.
