79pounds's message to Games for Fun and Relaxation members:"My name is Linda Jennings. I am Bear Jones' cousin. Bear left a request on his computer that I email you. Bear died in his sleep early Monday morning. His request was that you be told of his death and that your friendship meant a lot to him. Thank you for being a friend to Bear. Linda" Bear was an Ordained Priest (American Indian). He used to post some of his prayers. Sandy ("kasandra") posted this one on her journal in honor of Old Man Bear:(Take the hand of the dying person gently, and look into their eyes, or their face. (Loved One or Priest(ess) says:"You are dying. No one should ever die alone. I am here to share your death and to journey with you. There is only love, the greatest Mystery. I reach behind my fear. I open my heart and my eyes in the light of this love. I will go as far on this journey with you as I can. I will not abandon you."The Priest(ess) should breathe deeply, center yourself, and enter a state of light trance. ... follow the spirit of the dying person. "The Goddess is taking you back... the Great Mother. The Priest(ess) will be with the people left behind, providing strength and comfort. You are not abandoning them. It is time to leave behind your work. It is time to give up all of your ties to your family. It is time to give up sex, and gender. You cannot be a woman or a man and enter the other world. It is time to leave behind your body. None who have bodies can pass into the other world. It is time to move onward. Leave fear behind you and travel in peace to the next life."Priest(ess) or Loved One will remain with the dying person until the person is dead. At the moment of death say the following: "Journey on now. We will follow when we can. May you be born again at the same time and in the same place as those you knew and loved in this life.
