BAPTISM per a child

Oh what a glorious day!  My nephew was getting baptized and I was thrilled as well as honored to be there to see this take place.

As several of the family members were in the pew awaiting the baptizing, my son and daughter sat so quietly with me. They were raised in church from day one but they knew this must be something extra special to have all these family members present.

In the stillness, my son leaned to whisper in my ear.  He said, "Mom, what's happening?"  I explained to him, "your cousin is getting baptized and it is a very special time so to be extra quiet during the service."  This seemed to satisfy his curiosity for just a moment.

Another nudge from my son as he pointed at the church's baptistery and whispered in my ear, "What's that?"  I quietly explained, "that is where your cousin will walk in with the pastor of the church and he will be dunked under the water in the baptistery for his baptism."  Again, my son settled down and seemed satisfied with the answer.

Another nudge from my son.  "Mom, it looks like a big tub so why don't they just do it in the bathroom?"  This brought quiet chuckles to those of us who heard.  I then explained, "It's not the same thing as taking a bath.  This is special."  His response, "Well, he still gets wet all over."  I had no reply except, "Be quiet and watch." (big smile)
