baking friday! :) calling all cookie monsters! :) hehe! :) cookie monsters! :) hehe! :) cookie monsters unite!!! :) it's baking friday! :) oh my! :) a super fun, and super sweet, Kentucky Derby themed baking friday adventure in the kitchen! :) as we get ready for the Run for the Roses tomorrow, in the Kentucky Derby, today we celebrating the derby week, by having our very first, Kentucky derby theme, including baking a delicious, Kentucky Butter Cake. :) awww! :) Alyssa and the triplets came over today, to join my mom and i in the kitchen for a fun baking friday adventure :) The triplets were eating some hotdogs! :) We're gearing up, for the Kentucky derby tomorrow :) We wish you all could come over, to enjoy some baking friday goodies, and watching the Kentucky derby :)
We sure do love our baking friday adventures, and sharing our adventures with everyone :) keeping with the tradition, a wonderfully wholesome tradition, today my mom, niece Alyssa, Colby, Brayden, Jacob, and i baked a Kentucky Butter Cake, and Grilled some hotdogs, using our George Foreman grill :) our kitchen glowing with the spirit of the Kentucky derby, with our awesome derby programs, glasses, and posters we have recieved from our dear friends over the years :) We're gearing up for the derby, and ready to celebrate it tomorrow, with a nice trip to the Mohegan sun casino :) Derby day is so exciting, and one of the most historic sporting events in history, and with the derby only happening once a year, it's truly such a big day to celebrate it to the fullest :) our dear friends Gaye (LuvMyTitans) and her family are going to the derby tomorrow, and going to call me from Churchill Downs :) awesome! :) The derby day celebrations are on! :) Woot!! :) yeah! :) it's a spirited friday, and i'm feeling the love, and energy :)
We hope everyone is doing well, and enjoying a nice day :) We love baking friday, and with it being derby week, i thought it would be awesome to have our very first, Kentucky derby themed baking friday adventure :) It's been a good week, and lots of excitement has been building up, and the derby horses have drawn their post positions for the big derby tomorrow, the 141st run for the roses at churchill downs :) my family and i love the derby, and we look forward to the first saturday in may each year :) my mom, dad, and i are gonna be going down to the mohegan sun casino, and placing our bets on the derby :) when i looked at the horse's names, the first name that caught my eye, is #12, International Star :) i'm going to place a bet on that horse, and maybe a couple other horses too :) we got lots of friends, who are looking forward to the derby too :)
This morning, was a good, positive morning :) i gathered a big bowl of goodies, during sunrise hour, as those sweet golden beams!!! :) of sunshine were beginning to flow into our kitchen window :) a brand new day, rising and shining :) Good morning Spring Sun! :) rise and Shine!!! :) it was so nice, to see the sun rising up, and i went outside with a big bowl of goodies, breads, and peanuts for the birds and squirrels :) i put the goodies around our yard, and checked our plants :) They are doing well :) i love my early morning nature walks :) i spent some time here on ds, writing to friends, and i also gathered our awesome Kentucky derby gifts, and treasures my family and i have recieved over the years :) Kentucky derby glasses, programs, and posters :)
i love decorating our kitchen, with the theme of the week :) my mom and Lisa were looking at the decorations :) our kitchen looked awesome :) i took some nice time to text friends, to wish them a happy baking friday, i also cleaned our oven, and i cooked some nice cabbage soup, and made a salad for lunch :) i was feeling energized, in tune with the day, and excited that we were gonna be baking, and also getting ready for the big derby day tomorrow :) i spent some nice time here on ds, during the early afternoon :) my mom and i were having some nice talks too :) i'm feeling more and more hopeful, each day, and i'm getting stronger each day too :) my mom mentioned, that Alyssa and the triplets were gonna be coming over during the late afternon, to help us bake goodies :) sweet! :) Kayla and Mikey have been busy, Kayla has her cross-country team meets on friday's now, and Jenn has been busy with work, but very soon, we hope Kayla and Mikey joined back in on the baking friday fun :)
Around 2:50pm, i went back out into our kitchen, to put the finishing touches on our kitchen preparations, for our baking friday adventure :) Alyssa and the triplets came over :)They were really excited :) they love hotdogs, and wanted us to grill some hotdogs :) i had the George Foreman grill on the counter, and i also had our oven going :) i kept a close eye on our oven today, to make sure it was alright. i cleaned the oven out, really good :) we were getting ready to begin baking, and grilling :) each week, we love to use our nice baking friday supplies we have recieved over the years :) our aprons, oven mits, kitchen towels, are always a big part of our baking friday adventures :) We feel your loving spirits with us in spirit, during baking friday :) we were all set, and ready to grill, and bake! bake! bake! :)
We began our super fun adventure! :) the triplets were watching on, as we prepared the cake :) it was so nice, having my mom, Alyssa, Brayden, Colby, and Jacob in the kitchen :) the Kentucky butter cake, is a nice recipe i found online :) with the derby week here, i thought it would be very special, to make a nice treat, using a recipe from Kentucky :) The butter cake recipe is here at this link :)

We added the ingredients to the bowl, and did some super stirring! :) earlier, i had washed our bundt baking pan, to make the cake :) i was very excited, to try this cake recipe :) i used vegetable oil to grease the baking pan, and we poured the cake mix into the pan, and i put the cake into the oven to bake! bake! bake! :) my mom was able to bake her cake today too, that she wasn't able to bake yesterday. She baked a pecan cake :) as the cakes were baking, i got the George Foreman grill going :) i got this grill about 10 years ago :) it's really nice :) i put lots of hotdogs on the grill, and used tongs to turn the hotdogs as they cooked :) it felt good to be doing some grilling, and the spirit of spring time, all around :)
The triplets love hotdogs :) once some of the hotdogs finished cooking, and cooled down a bit, Alyssa cut the hotdogs into smaller pieces, the triplets ate 2 hotdogs! :) they were very happy :) i had a hotdog too :) one of my favorite foods :) i checked in on the cakes, they did bake really nicely, and i brought both of the cakes out of the oven :) we began to prepare, the nice topping/icing for the cake :) i melted butter, added in sugar, and vanilla :) i took the cake out of the bundt cake pan, and put the cake on a nice dish :) i then drizzled the butter/sugar/vanilla topping on the cake :) i took a picture of the cake, and then sliced the cake, it came out really good :) everyone had some cake too :) i'm really impressed with how delicious the cake is :) We'll definitely bake another one of these cakes soon :)
It was lots of fun today, decorating, and baking :) i always wish we all could have a fun baking friday picnic together :) We love hearing about all of the nice foods, meals, and goodies you all cook and bake :) a very special shoutout to everyone :) we'll be ready for a fun derby day tomorrow :) lots of excitement, and cheering on the horses :) GO HORSES!
