calling all cookie monsters and basketball fans! :) hehe! :) cookie monsters and basketball fans! :) hehe! :) cookie monsters and basketball fans unite!!! :) it's baking friday!!! :) oh my! :) A super fun, and super sweet, SLAM DUNK BASKETBALL themed baking friday adventure in the kitchen!!! :) this was so much fun!!! :) GO UCONN HUSKIES!!! :)GO U!!! :) U-CAN DO IT!!! :) Whoooooo!!! :) the Final 4 party is on!!! :) we had the flour flying in the air in the kitchen today, like a basketball flying through the air and through the basketball hoop! :) SCORE!!! :) it's basketball final 4 time, and today we are celebrating our home town proud, Uconn Huskies! :) The Men's Team, and Women's team, both are in the Final 4 this year, in the 2014 NCAA College basketball tournaments! :) Woot! Woot! :) Go TEAMS! GO! WE CHEERING!!! and ready for a slam dunk!!! :) Huskies bring home those nets, and championship trophies!!! :) Whooo! :) We love our Uconn Huskies, and are very proud of them :) We wish you all could come over to enjoy some baking friday goodies, and the basketball games :)
We sure do love our baking friday adventures, and sharing our adventures with everyone :) keeping with the tradition, a wonderfully wholesome tradition, today Kayla, Mikey, and i baked Basketball themed cupcakes, and Uconn Huskies themed Sugar Cookies :) it was so much fun! :) our very 1st Basketball themed baking friday adventure, and it was a SLAM DUNK!!! :) woot! :) it's that time of the year, spring season, the beginning of April, and the final 4 is set! :) our Connecticut huskies, from the University of Connecticut, have achieved an amazing accomplishment :) The tournament, each year, is very wild, beginning with 68 teams, in both the Men's and Women's tournament's, colleges from all around the country, and the tournament begins, in March, and now, after 4 rounds, we are at the Final 4, this upcoming weekend, the men's Huskies team plays saturday, and the Lady Huskies play on sunday :) We're extremely proud of our Huskies, each and every year, and this year, another magical run in March, has lead the teams to final 4 glory! :) Our Uconn Huskies teams, have won 12 National Championships combined, since the year 1995 :) in 19 years, 12 titles, 9 titles won by the Lady Huskies, 3 titles won by the Men's Huskies team :) absolutely amazing, and we are so thrilled here in CT, knowing that our teams can bring home some more nets, and national titles this upcoming week :) Woot! :) LETS GO!!! :) We're ready to cheer on the Huskies! :) Good luck to all of the teams in the final 4. :) Every team that has made it to this point, is very deserving of a championship, and it's gonna be incredible to see which teams win it all, and bring home those nets, and trophies :)
my dad, for many years, worked at the Thames Printing Company here in our city, and one of their major clients, for printing jobs, was the University of Connecticut :) i remember back in the early 1990's, when my dad use too bring home, these amazing Uconn Huskies books, posters, and other nice printing extras, from the work, that i would look at, read, and added to my sports collection :) We have a great love for our Uconn Huskies over the years :) i also have a love for the sport of basketball :) i use too play basketball during school days, i was very good, at the game, and i still got that basketball skill :) These days, they call someone who is good at basketball, a "Baller", well back in the day, i was a "Baller!" hehe! :) and very proud of it :) i use too play basketball often, on the playgrounds, and at school, with my friends :) my love for basketball began, when i was about 8 years old, and i remember when our neighbor Mr. Cook, gave me a basketball, my 1st basketball ever :) he use too be a gym teacher at the school down by where we go to the post office :) i didn't have a hoop to play basketball, so i used my imagination, and got a plastic bucket, i put the bucket up on our old deck, and i remember i would dribble the ball on our side-walk, and would try to make the basketball go into the bucket, and i got very good at it :) my mom and dad took notice of it, and they bought a basketball hoop for me, from my aunt Iris, in New London :)
i remember, being so excited, to have that basketball hoop, and my friends use too come over every day, and we would play basketball, for hours, and hours, especially during summer time :) i was known on the basketball court, as a big 3 pointer maker :) during my years of junior high, i use too make tons of 3 pointers. :) i remember when i 1st began high school, playing basketball, and we were playing a pick-up game, and there was another good player, and the coach/gym teacher would make us both, the captains, to pick our teams, and i remember being so proud :) i use too run basketball with some of my closest friends, in senior year of basketball, and i remember that year, we had a basketball showdown in 12th grade, up at our tech school :) my friends Chris, Jahmal, Josue, Juney (Rafael), and i got our team together, and we got onto the court that day, field day, 2000 in May, and we were on that court, for over an hour, taking on any team that groups put together, and we won every one of those games, and it was legendary to us, we were so happy, and i remember, we just didn't lose, and we even took on the Varsity basketball team players, our final game, and we won it, and we actually just walked off the court, in our hearts, as Champions :) i always remember thast, and very proud of it :) i use too play basketball with my dad a lot too, during my younger years, and we always had so much fun :) We loved playing so much, we even donated basketball nets to the school playground, because we use too play there so often :)
Basketball, definitely is a love of my heart, and i can still make those 3 pointers :) with our Uconn Huskies, in the final 4, i am having so much fun reminising about my basketball playing days, and so excited to share with everyone :) This morning, we had a sweet new day, baking friday, rising and shining! :) i wished Kayla, Taylynn, and our family a happy baking friday, and shared with them, your wonderful happy baking friday wishes :) Thank you everyone, so very much! :) You all are so nice, and sweet :) i enjoyed a nice nature walk this morning, i put lots of goodies all around our yard, for our nature animal friends :) they were so happy and excited, they love those goodies :) We have a very special shoutout, and thank you, for my dear, and lovely mom, and dad :) they went shopping today, and picked up some nice baking friday supplies :) Thank you mom and dad, so very much! :)
Around mid-morning, i began to gather baking friday supplies, and went out into our kitchen, to begin setting up, and decorating our kitchen with a basketball theme :) i brought my basketball out into the kitchen, sports themed napkins, Uconn Huskies logos, and had such a fun time decorating our kitchen :) i was super excited, for our super fun adventure! :) the kitchen looked awesome! :) i cooked a nice lunch, and enjoyed some nice time here on ds this early afternoon, writing to friends :) shortly after 3pm, the kids were arriving home, Kayla and Taylynn came home from school, and Jenn and Mikey came over :) We were all gathering around, gearing up to bake :) Taylynn sometimes joins in on the baking friday fun, but sometimes wants to have her afternoon snack/tv time :) We always mention to her, that she can come out into the kitchen any time, if she'd like to help bake :) each week, we get lots of great use, from our nice baking friday supplies :) our aprons, oven mits, kitchen towels, pot holders, oven mats :) We're so happy. :) throughout the course of the day, i texted friends, to wish them a happy baking friday :) Thank you everyone, so very much, for the next texts :) We were all set, and ready to rock and roll, and to score a SLAM DUNK in the kitchen! :) Calling all cookie monsters! :) it's time to bake! bake! bake! :)
We began our super fun adventure! :) We first began by preparing the chocolate cupcakes :) we got the big bowl, and i said to Kayla, "pick out the best 2 eggs ever!" :) Awww! :) She loves to pick out the eggs, she opened the fridge, and selected the eggs :) Awesome! : )Mikey loves when we use eggs, he loves to help crack open the eggs :) We added the ingredients into the bowl, and began to super stir! :) SUPER STIRRERS!!! baking friday teamwork! :) we were having lots of fun baking :) Mikey was so excited, because we had food coloring to use later on, to make our colored frostings :) We got the cupcake baking pans, and baking cups, and made 12 nice chocolate cupcakes :) Kayla and i are teaching Mikey a lot about baking, he's learning a lot, and becoming quite the baker :) he's a good listener too, he's doing so well :) We love to teach baking :)
i put the cupcakes into the oven to bake! bake! bake! :) We then began to prepare the sugar cookies, with another awesome egg, and extra melted butter, to make the sugar cookies extra buttery :) We were having an awesome time, and sharing lots of smiles :) my mom and sister Jenn were coming out into the kitchen too :) Jenn bought a nice spiderman themed kitchen towel for Mikey :) we got the flour flying in the air in the kitchen today, like basketball flying through the air on a basketball court! :) hehe! :) we used the top of the frosting containers (lids), to make the round shaped sugar cookies :) i used butter to grease the baking pan, and we baked a nice pan full of sugar cookies :) we did some cleaning up in the kitchen, and the cupcakes finished baking 1st :)
We began to prepare the colored frostings :) Mikey made the blue, Kayla made the orange :) We also saved some white frosting, for decorating :) the sugar cookies finished baking :) We were hanging out for a bit, as the goodies cooled down :) once the cupcakes, and cookies had cooled down, it was then time to decorate :) we decorated the cupcakes, with orange frosting, and used blue frosting to make the basketball lines on the cupcakes: ) they came out great! :) We used blue frosting, to decorate the sugar cookies, and used the white frosting, to write UCONN :) The cookies came out great! :) We're so happy and excited! :) We had so much fun today, baking the cupcakes, and cookies :) We love sharing our adventures, and wish you all could come over to enjoy some goodies, and watching the games with us :) i thanked Kayla and Mikey for helping bake goodies :) We have many more super fun baking friday adventures to look forward too :) Next week, we're gonna have our 1st, of 2, Easter themed baking friday adventures :) plus, our upcoming Easter egg hunt in the kitchen :) many family and friends have joined in on the baking friday fun this week :) a very special shoutout to family and friends, cooking lots of nice meals, foods, snacks, and baking goodies :) this is so much fun! :) We're with eachother in spirit, in our kitchens :) many great memories being made, to always cherish and treasure :) baking friday! :) We love it!!! :) Basketball themed cupcakes, and Uconn Huskies themed sugar cookies, dedicated to our wonderful family, wonderful friends, and to our home town proud, Uconn Huskies! :) We love you all so very very much! :) many great memories being made, to always cherish and treasure :) April 4th, 2014 :) Happy baking friday, and happy final 4 weekend everyone! :)
We're enjoying a great day! :) baking friday! :) We love it!!! :) my family and i are doing well, feeling much better, and so glad, and thankful, the week is ending on a nice positive note, and weekend is arriving with spring spirit :) lots of great spring time joys :) i'm so excited, this upcoming weekend, we may go to the home depot store, to check out some deals, on their spring garden sales. :) i'd love to go to the dollar store too :) i want to buy some goodies, and treasures :) i'm also going to do some nice writing this weekend, writing cards :) There's lots of great things to look forward too :) Tonight, i'm going to call our dear friend Holly :) We love to talk, and watching ghost adventures, we're also going to watch an episode of "Most Haunted" tonight :) it's paranormal night on the travel channel :) my family and i thank you all so very much, for all that you do for us :) You all are wonderful friends, and bring great joy, happiness, and peace, to our days, and our lives :) We deeply appreciate everything, with all of our hearts :) BIG GROUP SUNNY FRIENDSHIP HUGS :) my family and i hope everyone enjoys a great weekend :)
