Bad Summer

I bought a new bike in December then proceeded to get ill and not be able to ride it for 5 weeks. The first opportunity I got was 2 weeks ago. I did 20km's one day then 30km's the next. The bike felt good but totally weird compared to what I was riding.
Took the bike for a ride last Sunday with my brother, Abbottsford to Wheelers Hill. We got as far as the Collingwood children's farm when I applied the brake and the back wheel locked up as the brake pinched the tyre which was on the wrong side of the rim. As I was sliding out of control I panicked and grabbed the other brake. The next thing I know I am laying on the path spitting blood out of my mouth believing my front teeth are now cactus. My brother allayed those fears by telling me that they were still fine but that between my lip and nose was mangled and my chin was missing some skin. I was in shock and wasn't feeling the pain and road my brothers bike back to his place to clean up.

The upshot;
fractured top of my radius up near the elbow
took 6" of skin off each forearm, arms in bandages, dressing changed every 2 days
skin off knuckles left hand, hand swollen all week
few scratches on knuckles right hand
bruised/swollen left knee
missing 1sq" of skin between nose and top lip, will leave a scar
missing 1" x 2" of skin from chin superficial
helmet took a huge whack
Mexican soccer top shredded down the chest and covered in blood

The Bike;
left handle grip scuffed

So that's my first big spill which could have been a lot worse so I am glad it wasn't. Just ordered a new helmet and gloves and hope to be back out there in 3 weeks!
The bike has earned the moniker Christine as it seems to be possessed but I will give her 1 more chance.
