Bad News

Although I dont have all the answers, I talked briefly with the IRS.  My ex is up to his old antics again.  The IRS informed me I owed 51,000 which I have letters stating I only owed a couple of thousand. So,I may have to hire a tax attorney-for which, I dont have the money-it will take what little savings I have and then-I wont be able to get a place.  My ex has never taken repsonsibility for anything.

On a happier note,  I am having dinner with RV friend this evening.  He feels the empty gap up that I have with Roomie.  Roomie never talks.  Ive been with someone over a year now that never talks-its been lonely.  If I do owe money to the IRS, I may have to sleep in my car and pay them-but 51,000 seems like a huge mountain to climb-I guess Ill gather all my papers up and call them back to discuss.  Noone can ever give me the answers I need.  Ex has drug out this whole tax thing for years now and there are mountains of notes the the IRS goes thru everytime I call them- there is never really an answer.

Apparently he assumed all the marital debt and then filed bankruptsy.  Figures.

You can make an appointment to meet face to face with an IRS person at your local IRS office. Sometimes that is easier than doing stuff over the phone. Plus you can bring any documentation you have.

Those IRS penalties are quite outrageous. When I went through similar while I was divorcing my computer graphics business, the IRS penalties might have provoked more tears than losing my business. The IRS dispute certainly dragged out longer than the practical aspects of ending client relationships on a civil note.

In my own 90's IRS dispute, I finally found an agent who reduced the penalty charges considerable and set me up with a payment schedule I could fulfill without needing to move my still young sons and I to the car.

Hope I'm not stepping too far out of line here, but. . .
Of course RV guy feels the lack of proper prince in your life. That is how the *friends* game is played, isn't it? Can we still call those, "Benny Friends?" Friends with benefits?

Yes, I will look at meeting someone face to face at the IRS office. I didn't know they even had offices! RV guy has been laying his "
I love yous" on hot and heavy---too much in fact that I am starting not to trust the feelings. You are never stepping out too far Arfie, I need friends to be blunt with me. I think I need to have a talk with RV guy and tell him that I really would just like a place and space of my own and if things were to develop overtime then the idea of something else might happen. It's like the closer I get to moving out, the harder he tries to reel me in and I don't know what his motives are. I do know that he just consolidated his credit card debt and the only thing I can think of is it might save him money having me be there to contribute to the bills. Just my thoughts.

In the areas I am reaching to grow, I am seldom clear or consistent on what **my** motives are, much less have the faculty to analyze other people's motives, especially while they are physically close enough to reach my inner physics. Insert adage about not being able to see the forest for The Tree. Hard to even see The Whole Tree when I am *that* close.

Stay true to you, my healing warrior. K.I.S.S. K.I.S.S. Keep ^It^ Simple Sweetie (or whatever "S" euphemism you prefer. Ya doesn't what to know some of the euphemisms I've used for myself.) If a functional partnership develops between you and any of your special friends, perhaps it can begin with how well the prospective partner supports your need for personal healing and growth? Just a notion. . .

I think he sees you as vulnerable and either consciously or subconsciously that is attractive to him. Just guessing. I mean, do think he’s good partner material? Like is he stable, mature, caring, etc? If you don’t think so chances are other women don’t either. He may just be opportunistic which you seem to believe too. I suspect you wouldn’t be giving him the time of day if you weren’t trying to get out from the position you are in now. Sorry that’s not intended to diminish you but more to explain him. Of course I don’t know him so I could be completely wrong.

On the IRS website it gives you a number to call to make an in person Appt at your local agency. It’ll all work out. I think it’s just hell to get there.

I use to have an accountant that worked for the irs years ago. He told me, they make mistakes and lots of them... Many times they will either forgive debt or just not bother and go by whatever is written on the tax forms because it would cost them more to fight us then what they can get out of us.

I remember getting a letter from the irs one year, and they told me I owed them more money. I took it to my accountant and he told me, don't worry, I'll write them a letter. That was the last time I ever heard from the irs :) I don't believe he ever wrote them a letter but the irs didn't bother me anymore and that's all I worried about.
