I'm really sorry to hear that your bf's mom is judging you because u r in Foster care without even getting to know you. Maybe you can meet his mom so that she can judge you for you and you can talk to her about it.

As you go through life, you will see lots of different people with lots of different unfair biases. It doesn't mean they are bad people. It just means they tend to believe things said in fear, that are untrue. Don't take it personally and l.et it go.

You are in good company because lots of famous people grew up in foster homes! Simone Biles, Cher, Oprah, Marilyn Monroe and Steve Jobs to name just a few. So don't let anyone's view of you...define you. You are above that!

Really? All those people grew up in a foster home?

When you get older you'll have more of a choice on who you can date. I know some of those people grew up in a foster home. You'll turn out amazing.

Unfortunately, Thomas's parents are displaying a lack of understanding about the foster care system and the children it serves.

Some people assume that because foster kids often come from troubled backgrounds, they will automatically have behavioral issues. This is often not the case. Additionally, some foster kids come from loving homes that were simply unable to provide for them, due to financial or other circumstances.

Bob is correct about the celebrities he mentioned above, and I will add to the list: Babe Ruth, Nelson Mandela, Eleanor Roosevelt, Ray Charles, Eddie Murphy, and J.R.R. Tolkien ("The Lord of the Rings"). I'm certain there are many others. It is likely they had to deal with the same incorrect assumptions and judgments that you are facing, yet they became highly influential and successful people. I'm confident that you, too, will be successful in all that you do. By being the amazing girl that you are, you will be another person helping to change the stereotype.

It's possible that Thomas's parents will never change their mind, no matter what you do. However, have you considered writing his parents a letter, asking them to give you a chance? You could give it to Thomas to take home to them. Perhaps they would be willing to allow you to come over for dinner again or spend time with Thomas there, while they are chaperones. The more they get to know you, the more they will come to love you. I'm sure of it!
