This actually happened last week, so it's not a biggee, but just something I wanted to note.
I was FB-chatting with my sister last week, all pretty neutral stuff. Of course we got to talking about the kids & our aging & I was saying how eventually I'd be a grandma (much later)! She touched on wanting to be a good great-aunt. She said, "if your kids liked me, I could be a better aunt."
I don't know if she was baiting me or just expressing her honest opinion. (If it was baiting, I just let it bounce off me & if it was just her opinion, I let that bounce off me too!) But I thought to myself, "Well, that's screwy--if you were a better aunt, they'd probably like you more! & why should your 'performance' as an aunt be affected by whether or not my kids liked you?"
So I thought that was kind of backwards.
