BackStory

He left last August. After moving me away from my friends and family and uprooting my kids from their schools, friends, and support systems. After more than doubling the house note, he decides that he just can't do it anymore. There are many reasons why I am grateful for his decision (he was deeply miserable and made everyone around him almost as miserable), but today I struggle with feelings of abandonment and resentment.
After not seeing the kids for over a week, he became impatient with my daughter's request and told me "I just don't have time for this..." I said that he could go. I certainly didn't ask for his help--his daughter asked for his help. I am a smart and capable woman and I can figure out the problem on my own. Two minutes later, he figured out the problem and left. And I was left with angry feelings that I had not felt until now. I had been accepting, accommodating, understanding, flexible, patient, accepting and I had listened to him belittle me, treat me as if I were incompetent, call me a lazy complainer, and ignore me. I strove to handle it all with grace.
But today, I can't move past this feeling. Today I am angry and while I know this is probably normal, it just doesn't feel good. I resent that we worked together to make this family and the fact that he can just walk out to build a new life, leaving me holding the bag, leaving me responsible for everything is amazing.
I simply can't understand it.
