Back to the Future

Well, Ive had 2 or is it 3 weeks back at work now and things are shaking down to the usual routine. But that's OK-the odd different thing happens and its still heading in the right direction.
I am several mornings a week taking Arnie for an extra walk along the road and back-about 25 mins on top of about 40 mins a day-or at least a work day, and it includes a bit of a killer of a hill, which is good....
I am trying to have more salad as my after work snack. I am still having addiction probs with cashews, almonds and cranberry snack pack.
We are  being more monitored at work all the time-I am doing ok pretty much, but there is a knack to clicking the clock off and on and i havent mastered it. My calls are too quick and the gaps between too long. But overall I make more than my target of calls and that is good.
Ivan is moseying along, playing with racing systems and running the house with his usual thoroughness. He looks after me so well, and Arnie-we are very lucky.
My weight is 70 kilos today. Yuck! Cant understand why it keeps going up, when i am eating less overall. and taking more exercise too. Its maddening. Is it meds? menopause? low metabolism? more food? less exercise? its so slippery-cant put my finger on it.
I am enjoying DS and have some friends here I really like. They are a lot more available than friends in the Real World. My RL friends are busy with their own things but I spoke to Lou the other day-my cousin-and Bryan phones me a lot. He is such a long ago friend, I am so lucky our friendship survived a lot of anger and resentment and bitterness. We just remember sharing the things we enjoy and reminiscing about the past and encouraging each other towards the future.
Goals for this year-lose 10 kilos. Enjoy quality time with my mind and body peer support worker Lisa. Keep in gentle touch with brother Nick (let other brother Simon go), other bro Jay, sister Claudia, friend Nixcola in Aust and Ray in Oz too. Stay in tough with old friend Nicky who has had a hysterectomy- give her as much support as feels right without crowding her. Keep in touch with Mums old friend Ann every couple of months pay her a visit.
My hair has got very long and is giving me a feeling of fun.
Keep reading and enjoying the kindle Ivan gave me for Christmas. Just hit the right spot!
Try to stop clenching and playing with my teeth. I am sure its an anxiety/ boredom thing-I need to relax.
Keep my clothes in order. keep nails clean, dont let depression put me off showering.
Last year was a bit difficult so lets hope 2012 is a whole lot better for me , my friends and extended family.
And best of healthy happy times for all Daily Strength family.

I understand completely your dilemma with losing weight Dinah, it can be very complicated. Menopause, slow metabolism, too much food, etc. can all cause weight gain. All I can say Dinah is keep experimenting and maybe you will find out what is causing you to gain weight. Sometimes, these things can take awhile to pin down. Try to read a good book or two about weight loss. Try to remember, if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. I also understand what you mean about the showering thing, depression can make showering seem very unappealing, and make you smell very unappealing to your friends lol. I hope this year is a great one for you Dinah!

I am thinking of consulting a dietician but scared to invest $100 and the rest if it isnt going to be right for me. Maybe Ill start off with DS dieting support board?
