Back to School? ..at my age?

Well Journal, I did  it.  Yesterday I registered for a class.  Unbelievable....I actually went through with it.  I don't know what I am getting myself into, but I guess I'll soon find out.  Do I still have the brain power to absorb new concepts?  Do I have the stamina to study?  Do I have the willpower to get to class every week?  Can I handle being "the old lady" in a class of kids young enough to be my grandchildren?  Am I afraid?  You betcha!  I haven't stuck my neck out like this for a very long time.
For years the need to finish my degree has been rolling around in the back of my mind.  To leave that task unfinished has been a sore point for me for the last several decades, especially as I am the only sibling not to have completed a degree.  What can I say?  It was the 70's and protesting the war seemed to be the most important thing to do.  Little did I know the incompletes would have such an impact on my life.  I have had a lot of incompletes since then and I regret most of them.  I can't go back so going forward is my only hope.
I have had this reoccurring dream that I am walking slowly with a cane across a stage in cap and gown to get my diploma at the age of 80.  Guess I better get started because it might take me that long.
I am such a dope - finshing my degree would have been so much easier 20 or 30 years ago.  I had to wait until I was old and sick before I had the guts to take this on.  I must be suffering from heat stroke.
Hang with me Journal.  I am going to need you.
