Back on Line

My carpal tunnel is better today, if that is what it is, no more shooting pains. Thanks to all who left such kind and supportive comments, I really do appreciate every single one of them.  Together we are so much stronger than we are apart. I have been giving things a lot of thought lately, doing more meditation, etc.  That has made me feel a lot better.  I'm still sick, but not so desperately sick, you all know how that goes. It occurred to me that we, as persons with ME, have far more power to change things than we realize we have.  Remember, AIDS was on the back burner in medical circles for years until the gay people and their supporters starting raising #%$@# in the streets and harassing legislators incessantly.  The CDC had AIDS classified as "nonfatal", just like ME. If we could only organize a political action committee around a narrow focus, like ending abuse by doctors and psychiatrists, we could make examples of the abusers and make the rest think twice before they decide to toy with us like they often do.  It does not sound possible at first, but that is because we have this whipped-dog mentality of never fighting back.  There are so many of us !!  Just look at all the wheel chair ramps on new buildings and the motorized carts in the supermarkets.  Do you think the money for those was spent out of kindness?  They are examples of political action and the power of hundreds of thousands of disabled people and those who support them.  We have those numbers and that kind of power.  We just have to wake up and start working together effectively.
