Back in the Saddle - For Now

For now, we're back in our regular pattern. My son went back to school today & I didn't get any calls during the school day, so that's a good thing. During suspension, he seemed to be diligently doing all his school & make-up work. Didn't really see any push-back from him. Tomorrow I have another PPT meeting for him (wasn't going to originally, till this issue came up).
My daughter stayed over a friend's house for most of the weekend, so she was able to detach & relax. Another good thing; though I missed her a lot!
Since we haven't had our Christmas present exchange with my mom & sister & since we had Monday off, we all went up to my mom's to do so & to celebrate my birthday (nice to have it off, too!). My sister didn't stay too long (which was another good thing!) & her "target" that day seemed to be my mom anyway. So we just ordered some pizza with Mom & broke out the cheesecake sampler I bought for my birthday. It was really low-key, but pleasant. She has sliding glass doors along the back wall of the condo, which overlooks a wooded hill & she has birdfeeders out on her deck. So there were all kinds of birds to watch & that was fun. I don't know if the kids enjoyed it, but that's OK--they got to eat & see their grandma!
Back to my sister, I've suddenly come to a realization with her. I had commented on one of the football games on FB (our team had lost). I guess she didn't like what I said (even though it merely reflected my disappointment & the fact that at least they didn't lose in the Super Bowl), because she just wrote "B***" At first, I thought, what the heck?? But didn't give her the satisfaction of an answer. (As a side note, the next day at Mom's we were mutually commiserating the loss & not a word about either comment--I wonder: was she drinking? Who knows...)
Anyway this is my realization: it all seems to be projection on her part. It so fits, really. When she calls me "b***", I view it as calling herself one. If she says I'm "obnoxious", she's being obnoxious. When I frame these attacks this way, it no longer hurts & actually she becomes quite pitiful. Not that I'm going to set myself up for her target practice! I guess what I'm saying is: when I have to deal with her, I can deal with her this way.
