Back Home Safe
The trip to New York was memorable. We drove up on Wed., had a one hour detour due to a traffic accident. Early Thursday morning we took a train from White Plains to the city to the Natural History Museum. I haven't been there in over 20 years. The kids had never been there. It was really neat. We could have spent a whole day there, but we had to meet Our oldest son for lunch at one. We had lunch at a small place near the museum. Then we took a subway to the Empire State Building. Got some pictures from the top, it was pretty cloudy, so I don't know if they will come out or not. Then we went to China Town, looked around in a lot of little shops. Had dinner in a nice little resteraunt there, wasnt as clean as it could have been, but the food was good and no one got sick. So I guess it was okay. Then we had desert at a bakery in Little Italy. Friday we awoke to rain. It rained all day, really hard sometimes. We met our son at his dorm at Fordham, got a rainy tour of campus. Then we took the subway to the Ferry for the statue of Liberty. It was really rainy, really windy. We lost our umbrella. Then the Ferry took us to Ellis Island. We really could have spent a long time there, but we only had about an hour. Really emotional experience. Then the Ferry back to the city. There was a monument near the Ferry landing for all the men lost at sea in WWII. Very moving. Very sad. Then we took a subway back to Little Italy for dinner. The weather was pretty miserable. We had probably the most expensive dinner there I have ever been involved with. It was about 200.00 for the six of us. But we had appetizers and dessers. I don't even want to think about how many calories I consumed in those 5 days. But we did walk quite a bit, so maybe it won't be too bad. My legs are no longer sore from the marathon, so perhaps I did what I needed to. But I have to get my diet back under control. tomorrow. Anyway we said goodbye to my baby for the summer. I don't know when we will all be back together again. But I guess that is in God's hands, not mine, so I will leave it there. We went half way home on Saturday, stopped at a small town in Pennesylvania for the night. we went to a movie. The guys went to see Iron Man, and me and the girls saw Made of Honor. I really wanted to see Iron Man, but I can see it later. And on a bigger screen. lol. I think I have seen big screen TV's bigger than the movie screens in this theater. Today we came the rest of the way home. When we were about a half an hour from home, we drove through a tornado warning. A bit un nerving, but we survived. All home and safe.

Sounds like a grand trip. I love NYC. We used to take our school groups there....visited Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, and the World Trade Center back in the day. I don\'t think I\'ve ever been bored when I\'m there. Even the buildings seem to breathe. The walking is definitely a good balance to the great food you can find there.
oh wow...WHAT a trip Marah......sounds amazing, specially Little Italy, would love to visit New York. A friend of mines son vanished into NY completely - they lost track of him, he disappeared. But then 9.ll happened and he got back in contact. Amazing...not 9.ll..but at least they were re-united and now visit him there.
