Back home
This is me babbling again. Feel free to read or not. Nothing earth shattering but I just needed to write.
Joe and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary on January 20. We went to Europe for our honeymoon. We are 50 year smarter and decided to go on a second honeymoon to Europe, but not in January!
We spent the month of June in Northern Europe. I was anxious to go back to what I consider my second home, the Czech Republic and my favourite city in the world, Prague. It has changed in 18 years but it is still as wonderful as ever. After that, we traveled to places we hadn't visited before - Krakow, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Berlin. We enjoyed it all. I think we only ate 2 meals inside restaurants. Instead we dined on the patios and watched life.
I was at peace. I am happiest when I am traveling. Lisa was with us. She sent birds - a lot of them. It made me smile.
We stopped in Ottawa for a week on our way to Europe and 4 days on our way back. We cuddled babies - actually toddlers now. Once they learned to walk, they decided running was more fun - luckily there were 2 of us because they like to run in opposite directions! They are talking. Cevyn understands them so translates for us! Arabella babbles a mile a minute. Sierra talks but not as incessantly. My heart melts when I see them. But there is that sadness that overwhelms me at times knowing that Lisa is not here. She would be over the moon.
Now we are home, adjusting to our home life and dealing with real life. We are trying to keep active but it is so much easier in Europe as there are so much to see, and the pace of life is different. I know part of it is that we are on holiday, but we did live there and we really liked life there. I do get down when I get home. Jet lag sucks. I am over it now. If we didn't have such good friends and family. we would move to Europe. But at our age it is not practical.
I think I came out of the womb wanting to go somewhere, and in that respect, nothing has changed. So now we save for our next adventure.
Thanks for listening.

Welcome home dear Marlene as YOU were missed! I thought of you and could always feel your smile as you are an adventurer at heart. I could see Joe with his camera strapped over his chest and the two of you absorbing fully being together and getting to share such a special trip. I had no doubt Lisa would be letting you feel her presence as well.
What a treat to see the twins and you will need to figure out how to "decode" this mysterious language they now have. lol! Such a true JOY they are and of course your heart strings are being pulled when you wish that Lisa could be earth side to relish in this as well. Deepest of sighs...
Gentle care as you come back down to earth and begin planning your next vacation. I will be excited to hear where it will take the two of you.
Heart (((hugs))) and again, welcome home!
XO Joanie
First, Thank you for sharing pictures of your trip. I absolutely loved them. We went to England some years back... I am not so adventurous so I hesitate to go places beyond where I have read a lot about and your trip inspires me to consider a trip to those places... I cannot walk long distances... so I would have to rent a scooter... that would be fun... LOL We went to Neath Wales when we had gone to London... it was a spur of the moment addition and we were able to rework our plan for only one day in Neath.... I would definitely want to go back and to stay longer... It is hard to return to the ho hum of everyday life... Hope you get some rest and start planning your next get away soon. Come back to New Orleans.... we would love to come see you. Take care. Hugs Elissa and Richard
I am so happy you two had a great time. Oh with the twins when they learn to speak so you can understand they will have their own twin speak. My granddaughters would speak funny but they each knew what the other was saying. I still never understood but who am I to figure things out when it their world not mine. I will miss you greatly in Nashville but the big 50 anniversary is far more important.
I hope you shed the lag so you can enjoy yourself. I want you to make everyday count.
sending love and hugs your way

Hi Marlene, welcome home. I enjoyed seeing your pics on FB. Such beauty and history! I love that Lisa accompanied you and Joe and affirmed her presence by sending you birds. Lovely, just like Lisa!
And those baby girls. They are absolutely adorable. What fun! I understand the longing. I just know Ed would have relished the moments with his grandchildren. Often, when I see his kids, I whisper to Ed that I will love his grandies with a little extra love from him. (It makes me feel a bit better). How I wish Lisa could be here with these little beauties and Ceyvn. ♡
Happy anniversary to you and Joe. I love your adventurous spirits. ♡♡♡
Let the sunshine.
Loved reading your journal. I love to travel as well, but do not feel safe doing it alone. I am going to have to join some senior roups that take trips together. I am 71 yrs. young, lol.
Glad you got to see the twins and Ceyvn. Would love to see your pictures. Are they on your FB page?
Love to you and Lisa, from Dean and me
What an adventure you two have been on. Happy Anniversary wishes. 50 years together is something to celebrate.
And getting to spend time with your Cevyn and twins is icing on the cake.
Wishing you many more years together.
Hugs, smiles and even a tear for you and Lisa . . .
