Back From Vacations--And I'm Ready to Go Back!
Well, we're back from our 2-week vacation in the Appalachain mountains to visit family. Except for a little more rain than I'd like (and even what they would like), it was really, really nice. Mild weather (our home state had a record-breaking heat wave), fresh air, clean yummy water, good exercise, good food (which negated the exercise), awesome family & plenty of genealogy! There was barely any cell service--none where we stayed, except wifi at DH's aunt's--so I didn't go online very often. It was nice to see my daughter break away from her beloved Internet! The kids were a little bored at times, but they did OK. The dog even had a great time & for the most part behaved himself.
The first day back from work, my usual annoyances were like water off a duck's back; 2nd day, just mildly annoying; 3rd day, I'm blocking out the excess noise; today: I am ready to go back down there!
Got together with my friend last night; probably shouldn't have done that for several reasons. One, I had to get up extra early this morning for my annual mammo; two, she didn't seem as receptive as she usually is when we get together; and three, I brought up an issue with a 3rd party that I probably never should have opened my mouth about to begin with. That just ended up with her completely misunderstanding what it was I was trying to say & invalidating my feelings. So, lesson learned on my part.
So, as I said, had the annual mammo today--aka "The Big Squeeze". It doesn't last long, but I hate it. So I had time afterward before work & treated myself to a Starbucks. And at lunch, I couldn't face eating yucky leftovers and listening to the ridiculousness around me, so I went out to a new Mexican place down the street. It was OK & seemed to do the trick.
