Back from vacation

Vacation was nice, but I am so glad to be home.  I was totally and completely off my diet, exercise, etc.  In a way, it was nice.  For one week, I just did not care.  Ate desserts, ate pizza, drank wine, ate ice cream.  The shame of it was, it was so cold and rainy a lot of the time in Maine, that I just could not get my walks in if I wanted.  It isn't as bad to take walks in the rain at home, but when you are in a motel with limited clothes and no dryer, well, I just stayed inside and read books.  We did get to go on a whale watching cruise, David and I.  It was pretty foggy but got to see 6 finback whales!  They are the 2nd largest whales in the world, 2nd only to the blue whales!  It was too early for the humpback whales.  But we got to see those in Alaska 2 years ago.  I did get to go on a couple of hikes and also did some shopping.  But mostly it was raining and cold and foggy. We did go to our friends' cabin/vacation home in New Hampshire for a few days and had a nice time.  Again, cold and rainy.  The 12 hr ride up was hell.  David was just a bear in the car the last 4 hrs and so many times I literally pulled over and threatened to turn the car around.   I also had my period last week (which I am sure added to the 1.5 lb gain) and also a cold.  Between the cramps and the sneezy stuffy head, and the cold and the rain, it was nice to sit inside and read! It was so nice to be home and sleep in my own bed and I missed Kona terribly.  She was SO happy to see us!  My mom watched her.  I gained 1.5 lbs and I certainly suspected as much.  But I am back on track today.  Unpacking, cleaning, etc.  Have some friends coming over later in the week to visit, so have to clean up the spare bedroom, which has been a catch-all for crap for the last 6 months.  Got some cleaning and some reading done.  Watched "The Devil Wears Prada" and I want to dress in the cute little outfits so bad!  I also watched the season premiere of "Ruby" yesterday.  So I have renewed confidence.  I am determined in so many ways to try to get control of my life again- my weight, my home, my job.  Forget getting control of my family.  That will never happen!  LOL! Anyway, this weeks focus is to get 10,000+ steps per day and just get back on track with my food and water.
