back from the dead?

My fever peaked at 101.3 last night; today it's normal.  I'm still coughing a bit, and my cat still sneezing a little---from toxic fumes that could have killed us?
Friday, when I paid my rent in person to my landlord, I told him I had the flu----with him saying, in the bathroom of the apartment below mine, that the place was smelling from removing its toilet a week ago, and not plugging up the sewer pipe; he told me to open my windows; Saturday was when I really felt sick, though Friday I probably sneezed about one hundred times.
I, and my cat, almost died from the unplugged pipe after a toilet was removed!
My cat like a canary in a coal mine; he kept on sneezing for days leading up to this.
I thought I had the flu, and my cat sneezing from our apt being cold.
My inferiority complex; I thought my cat's litter box was smelling, or that I smelled bad: I was squirting fabrize on the walls, washed a shirt by hand, and Friday morning bought a stick up room deordorizer.
More nuttiness from me: I should be very angry about this, but my landlord did help me with my old cat, and he takes anti-depressant medication, and I can talk to him about my problems, soooo, like starting in the 1970s, with all kind of bad stuff that happened to me, I'm kinda brushing this off.
(just something to post in case anything worse would happen)

I am grateful your landlord has been helpful in the past, but it was clearly his responsibility to inform the tenants of the problem with the sewer pipe... I am so very grateful you found out and was able to intervene before far, far worse happened... In other words, I am glad you and your cat are okay... ISH!

there\'s definitely something mentally wrong with me that I\'m almost willing to shrug/laugh this off---when I should be yelling and screaming.

Friday constant sneezing, yesterday too lethargic to do anything, today some worries of later cancer from this.

And what a humiliating way to almost die----from a bad toilet!

(5 minutes from now for a short bike ride, to help clean out my lungs)

Well maybe you are just tired of being angry and surely from all of the fumes! Hope you both feel better soon.

TroJanThunder,

amazing how a half hour ago the landlord was here about my shower leaking to the toxic apt below, when I was worried about calling him about the apt upstairs from me leaking hours prior----with me getting the chance to say I was deathly sick from the downstairs smell...with no reaction from the landlady, with the landlord saying Friday he told me to open the windows.

Me on an e-mail kick cause of this, with the lone off-this-site person I can e-mail showing up today too---with him being surprised that the landlord didn\'t know enough to plug up the exposed toilet pipe.

If my remaining cat gets sick, THEN i\'ll definately go all out and get angry.

hydrogen sulfide and ammonia comes from an open toilet pipe---I found out about those chemicals on health sites today; akin to being in a closed garage with fumes coming out of a car tail pipe.

(I didn\'t tell the landlord I had the shower running awhile cause I was hoping that would get rid of any leftover toxic fumes....caulk seal around the shower loose, causing water to leak below.)

Oh Mike! What a honking MESSS!!!! What makes ppl think it is ok to behave this way. Maybe it IS time to pitch a fit even though you don\'t feel like it.

a late reply, to you TroJanThunder, cause it took still another week for me to feel better.

At this point, I am mad enough about my landlord, and have complained to others about it, though I seem to have survived well enough, so maybe in next few days I can forget about what happened, for good or bad.

It is so hard to know what actions will help and which ones are not worth the hassle. Staying in the present moment is the only thing we have for sure. But it\'s damn hard.

I\'m sorry I didn\'t know you were sick. Sounds like it was rough. I would have sent you some chicken soup hugs.
I\'m glad you are on the mend now.
