Back from Paris, Upcoming Due Date, Gallbladder Surgery!
Hi. It's been a while since I've written, or really been on DS. Although I haven't been on much, I have been checking in here and there. I've mostly been logging on to check in on Roxy. I know we are all devastated for her, and our hearts are so heavy. The cruelty of infertility and miscarriage is beyond comprehension.
I'm doing ok. My due date would have been this Monday, May 12. Its so hard to believe the time has gone by and the date is here. Double whammy that it is, one day after Mother's day. But I'm actually doing better (at the moment) with it than I thought I would. I know a lot of people said the anticipation of the date is actually worse than the actual date, and maybe I'm finding this to be true. I've seen a few people on FB who were due around my due date who gave birth a few weeks early, and although that was painful, it made me realize that even though May 12 was my baby's due date, its unlikely my baby would be here on the actual date. Somehow, this helps take away a bit of the pain of the date to focus on this.
We've been back from Paris for a few weeks now and we had a good trip. It was nice to get away. Vacation is always healing, sometimes in ways we least expect. Towards the end of the trip, I was waking up in the middle of the night sick, but I chalked it up to all of the indulgent, late-night eating. Let me tell you, those french really know their food! I went to the doctor when I got back and found out a few days ago the culprit is my gallbladder, and need to have it removed. Some of you might remember that last year, before we began our IVF cycles, it was a possibility I was going to need my gallbladder removed because they found I had 2 stones (all by accident). But since I wasn't showing symptoms, we decided to move forward with IVF and leave my gallbladder in. I guess it was only a matter of time before it caught up with me, and my gallbladder was just not enjoying all of that decadent eating in France the way I was :)
I will say having to think about going through surgery has kinda helped take some focus off of this emotional time. Even though its still difficult, and I know there's just no way around that. But while I was waiting for the test results, I started worrying maybe something was wrong with me, and it suddenly put a new perspective on things.
I keep thinking how interesting timing is in life. Instead of being 9 months pregnant and awaiting the birth of my baby, I'm gearing up for surgery to remove my gallbladder. Who knows what or if this would be a complication for my baby or me.
Anyway, I meet with a surgeon on Tuesday to find out more and schedule surgery. But it looks like surgery will be soon, probably within the next few weeks, so please say a prayer for a successful surgery and healing. I am very much hoping to have this done laprascopically, but there's a chance they won't be able to because I've had prior abdominal surgery :(
I think of you all often!! xoxoxo

You continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

Good to hear from you. This week would be hard, but I hope you\'re surrounding yourself with love and people who think the world of you. Sorry to hear about your surgery. So frustrating when our bodies won\'t cooperate. I hope it goes smoothly for you.
Glad you guys had a good time in Paris! Trust me, once you get past the hurdle of the due date, things do get easier. I think the looming of the due date makes everything worse, so once its come and gone it does not weigh you down as much. Just a warning though, it may sneak back up on you near the 1st b-day mark too.
Thinking of you and hope the surgery is a success!!!!

Its great to hear from you and I am so glad you are doing well and had a wonderful vacay. Its so important to take care of yourself, mind body and spirit. I think all too often we forget that we need those breaks away to recharge, regroup, relax, heal and just enjoy life and our significant other.
I\'ll be praying that the weekend and due date fly by for you and that your surgery is quick and smooth!
XO
