Back at work

My PE happened at the very end of the semester and I have been on break during most of my recovery...I am back at work this week.Yesterday, I survived an all-day "faculty workshop."Tomorrow will be my first day of classes.I am a bit nervous. Will I have the stamina?I was sooooo tired before the PE.  I think I feel better afterwards, as strange as that sounds.I feel *better* on coumadin, for sure. But I haven't put any of this to the test.I have been able to rest for a lot of the past month.  My colleagues are so strange.Only one person has acknowleged my PE... at all. The others just pretended it didn't happen.I thought maybe they would say something when I came back, but...Nope.  Nothing. If anyone asks me in a casual manner, "Did you have a nice break?" I might lose it on them!   When I had my first PE 4 years ago, I had a different job and my colleagues sent me flowers and a couple of them visited me in the hospital. Here, I didn't even get a phone call or a "get well soon" e-mail...

ok trite but true: one day at a time. such a trite bubblegum phrase. and yet.

I am sorry to hear of your colleagues lack of human interest! It does not speak to you or their opinion of you *at all* - it speaks to who they are, although maybe at that time they were a whole in a distracted and self centered place. It is weird. but NOT about you or whether they like you or care for you. just disappointing people skills.

Last year (different job) I had my PE the first day of our 2-week spring break. My chair acknowledged it, but no one else did (I had to tell a bunch of people because my grades were going to be late). All I got from my colleagues was a series of increasingly harrassing calls from the registrar, telling me that they needed my grades ASAP because I was the last one with outstanding grades. So, I read papers from my sickbed! It was not a happy break.

Here\'s to a good semester for you!
