Babysitting tonight

So tonight I am having my friends son (3) for the night as a favour, I was there when he was born so we are pretty close although in the last year or so I have struggled to be close with him too much, because of my IF but also because I really struggle with the way she disciplines him and he is so out of control when he is with her that I find him exhausting.
Anyway I have him tonight and he has been really goood for me (probably because I don't take any of his shite!!) , but I feel kind of overwhelmed having him, since it feels a bit scary having a child here when potentially I could have my own one day soon and I am suddenly overwhelmed by the enormity of what that means!
I am hoping this is normal?? I am hoping its not a sign that I don't deserve or cant handle having a child?? My casual selfish routine suddenly seems so precious, what a horrible person!

That\'s completely natural. I was watching DH\'s cousins baby about 3 mos old at the time for just a few hours. He was a good baby, but required alot of attention, like babies do, and I knew that. But then all of a sudden I had a moment of panic and was like \"omg. what am i going to do with 2 of these. How will I get anything done? I\'ll never be able to do it by myself!!\" But I had to take a deep breath, and know that it\'s done all the time, and the amount of love present when it\'s your own makes it so much more worth it. Not saying it won\'t be challenging, but if it was too hard then all the teens and crackwhores wouldn\'t be able to keep doing it. You\'re normal!

I also think it\'s totally normal. I love Nelly\'s point that crack whores do it!

Nedico you are completely normal. :-) Having a child is overwhelming but so worth it. I have noticed that women who have gone through IF are more patient and loving to their child than those who can have children easily. You will be a great FANTASTIC mother! Do not worry. :-)

Yeah that is completely normal, I feel like that looking after my sister\'s child (4) sometimes and I work with 4 year olds all day!!

Completely normal. First normal that you find him overwhelming (my nephews wear me out to the core), second normal that you are worried this is a sign that you aren\'t going to be a fit mom, third - normal that you actually ARE fit to be a mom. I will say though that boys are a ton of work in the early years. they like to destroy everything and are exhausting. girls are easier in the first few years, but then turn into terrors in middle school/high school. take your pick. exhaustion early, or late? :-)
