Baby Cuddling in the NICU tonight

Tonight's shift was just a little extra special for me.  While cuddling a baby, her parents came in.  They were so nice, and what really made me feel good, was that they actually thanked me for cuddling their little girl while they weren't there.  Two perfect strangers, brand new parents for the very first time, and they thanked me for cuddling their newborn baby girl, and yet, our own son refuses to even let us near his first-born child.   It just seems kind of a little bit twisted to me, you know?  I live for these nights and so  thankful for this volunteer opportunity because it makes what we've been going through, just a little bit easier to cope with.
