Babies babies babies and rambling

Our trip to Ottawa to celebrate the first birthday of Arabella and Sierra is nearing the end.  We fly home onWednesday.  We have babysat a bit and I am blown away at how good the girls are.  They are happy, healthy babes (photos on Facebook) and a delight to be around.

Cevyn, Brendan, Joe and I took them to the mall for Sanda photos.  They stood in line for about half an hour and they just watched the comings and goings.  Arabella was okay with Santa but Sierra was not happy.  They were both fine when the were both seated on Santa's knee but Sierra voiced her displeasure when she was having her alone photo with Santa.

They are just precious.  At bedtime, Bella just rolls over and goes to sleep.  Sierra cries for a couple of minutes and falls asleep.  They sleep from 6 or 7 pm until 6 or 7 am!  How lucky their parents are!

For such young people, Cevyn and Brendan are awesome parents.  It warms my heart.  It will be so hard going home.

The only sad part is that their grandma Lisa isn't here to watch them grow and spoil them rotten.  She loved children.  It sucks big time.  We went to her grave and placed a little Christmas cottage and decorations.  She loved little cottages and bought a new one each Christmas.  I guess I will never get used to the idea that my baby has a gravestone.

However, the babies have lots of loving relatives who dote on them.  Beth has a big noisy family, and Brendan has a huge family too.  There were at least 30 people at their birthday party.  That is the only upside of going home.  We know that they are loved by many.

I wonder if Lisa planned for Cevyn to have twins.  She always wanted more children and felt bad that Cevyn was an only child.  She wanted a big family but it was not to be.

We have been very lucky with the weather here.  Today is the first really bad weather day.  It is cold with freezing rain.  That means that the streets and sidewalks are like skating rinks.  Our car was covered in ice when we went out this morning.  It reminded me of a Christmas when Lisa and I went out to do some last minute shopping.  When we were coming home (their house is in the country)  Lisa said oh oh.  It was raining but freezing as it hit the ground.  It took us a long time to get home  and we passed several vehicles in the ditches, but we made it.

I regret not being with the babies for Christmas, but in reality it is probably for the best as I would be a bucket of tears. Lisa loved Christmas and we spent every one together.

Cevyn has inherited the Christmas bug.  She decorated her tree and it is beautiful!  The stockings are up and they have their Christmas itinerary planned.  Christmas eve with Harvey and Beth and Christmas day with Brendan's family.  Next year it will be the other way around.

I am sorry I won't be in Nashville this year but babies and 50th wedding anniversaries take priority!  Also, I will be seeing old friends in Europe so life can be good.

Lisa:  You are truly missed.  Your grandchildren are absolutely amazing.  I wish you were here.  I miss you always and love you forever, Mummy

So that is it for me for now.

I'm so delighted to hear some of the details of your most amazing time with your family. Oh, those twins sound spectacular and I can just see you two with them. I remember Joe connecting with all the little people as we walked around on retreat. It's just what he does all the time, isn't it? I'm sure he's gotten some wonderful pictures of them. You can post a picture here and it's not too hard, yet I know easier with FB.

Fifty years "all in a row" is something to be honored and celebrated, Marlene and hearty congratulations to Joe and to you as you come upon it. A European vacation sounds spectacular and you will have to share what countries you will be visiting. Of course you two will be missed at the retreat and there's always the following year.

Safe travels back home and in the meantime savor your time with your family as I know YOU are.

Missing Lisa always as you gather, I know, and how I wish it could be different.

Loving care and a big (((hug))) too.

Hi Marlene, those twins are just adorable. I enjoy the pics you post on FB. So lovely that you had this time with Ceyvn and the Littles. I always feel such joy and heartache too at the same time knowing Ed would have been the doting grandfather since now both his children are parents. His daughter cries often about her girls not getting to know their Papa. It's not fair! I so wish that Lisa were here to enjoy these darling babies. But I know you will love them with all you have and that is such a sweet way to honor your daughter. And Cevyn's and Brendan being such good parents must make you so proud. Lisa raised a wonderful daughter.

Fifty years of marriage! Congratulations! Your vacation in Europe sounds like a wonderful way to celebrate!

Loving you and dearest Lisa, Linda ♡

Marlene. thank you for sharing such a special journal and a special time. I, too, love seeing the pics you post on FB. Bitter sweet, isn't it. Our Jeff's children are now 19 and 17 and I am so proud of both of his girls but d--m it he should be here. I know your Lisa is so proud. We also recently celebrated 50 years of marriage and I look back and wonder where has all the time gone. Tight hugs to you and your Lisa, Nell and Jeff

I have so loved seeing all the pictures on FB! OMG...those little tikes are just the cutest ever!!

So glad y'all had such a great visit and got to spend so much time with everyone. Heartbreaking always that Lisa isn't there in the flesh to love on the girls and for you to enjoy watching her grandmotherly ways as I'm sure she'd be the perfect GG. Holidays can be tough...

You'll surely be missed next year, but of course family always comes first. Enjoy your trip to Europe! Sure wish I could travel as you and Joe do!! I live vicariously through your adventures!!

Tight heart hugs and wishing you warmth and a very happy Thanksgiving!
