AWARD!

This isn't about me.  It's about calling attention to the message I've been working on diligently.  On the other hand - it is kinda cool to receive this award.  
 
A woman (whose children I taught in preschool), tutored T in math when he was struggling in his addiction, and newly elected member of the school board nominated me for the PTA Helping Hands Award.  Today she emailed me to say that I won!  
 
I am so glad for the "cause".  I know I'm tenacious, persistent, and a bit over the top (sometimes) but if I don't do it - who will?  People in this community are sooo good at pretending this problem doesn't exist.  It's so tabu here - like many towns, I'm sure.  Our community is known as the "_ _ _ Bubble" by many.  Pleasantville.  It's almost sickening.  All I can say is I'm hoping that what my husband and I are doing will open up some eyes - at least- a bit.  Being that the information is coming from people that live here - will make more of an impact because drug abuse happens here in our town, too.
 
Also - my Parent Resource Packet is now on the school district website!  Baby steps!
