Avonex blues

I hate the Avonex.  I have to say I have been terrible the past two months at consistently getting the shot.  I forget (conveniently).  Well, I forced myself last night to not forget.  What a night.  Long, painful, headache, and crappy night.  I keep wanting to just skip it.  I feel better without it.  After a while I feel blah with it too.  However, most of the symptoms that plague me came over the 2 years I was off the Avonex trying to get pregnant.  And there is really no way to tell if I would have had trouble or not.  I tend to think it may have stayed at bay a little longer.  In any case, I don't regret trying to have a child.  So, back to the stupid shot.

Considering how crappy I felt throughout the night, I do feel pretty good.  My back aches like hell this pat week.  I was exhausted Saturday.  Felt good for most of the day yesterday.  Only got tired after grocery shopping and cleaning the bathroom. I don't feel sparkly today though.  Thought about staying home, but am not that sick.  Maybe I will leave early today.

Boy do I feel you on that one! I took Avonex for 3 months and waited for the side effects to subside and they never did. So I just switched to Copaxone and am so much happier. I never realized how bad the Avonex was making me feel until I wasn\'t on it anymore. I got to the point where I just couldn\'t force myself to take that stupid shot because it seemed like I always hit a nerve when I was giving it in my leg. Then I was horrible ill with the flu for 2-4 days. The first day of it I would have a fever up to 104.5 and then the next day I was just exhausted....my whole body hurt and my bones ached. I would cry when it was time to give the shot. Then I would cry because the shot hurt. Copaxone is so much better. I get large knots under the skin wherever I inject and it hurts like I\'ve been stung by a wasps but it goes away after 30-45 minutes. I can handle that every day much better than the Avonex. I don\'t know how anyone stays on that drug long term. You are a better person than me that\'s for sure. Hang in there!
