August/September Update - Tapering Prednisone at 30mg

It's September 8th today and am currently at 30 mg prednisone and still at 100 mg of Imuran.  I'm still feeling good. I'm just waiting for the hard part to hit once I hit the lower dose of prednisone.
Good things that are occuring are my sleeping has gotten better - can sleep longer.  I feel less anxious.  Muscles getting stronger day by day. I am walking every day and trying to use the exercise bike or go outside and bike for 20 minutes.  I also do a few floor exercises to strengthen my thighs and shoulders.  I have been swimming a fair bit this summer and we have gone on a number of trips to British Columbia, Alberta and Alaska.
My weight has gone up about 3 pounds - now at 128.   I started taking Konjac root to help offset the increase in appetite.  My body has definately changed in shape.  No butt anymore as it has moved to my tummy.  The moonface is still there, but not too bad.  The latest side effect is that my hair seeems to be getting thinner and falling out more.  I bought some hair products to try and deal with this and hope it is only temporary.
Facial and tongue numbing is still  there.  I'm seeing another neurologist on Sept. 29th for second opinion.
I see my rheumatologist in October.  My next bloodwork is Sept. 15th and will hopefully go down to 25mg of prednisone at that point.

sorry, new laptop and it does what it wants. Sounds like things are progressing well for you and glad you\'re feeling and sleeping better. You hair will grow back in and the face will return to normal after the Prednisone is finished, so think of it as only a temporary inconvience. Blessings to you and please keep us posted. Kim

Thanks Kim. Good to know the hair will grow back. I just hope I can get down to a low enough dose to get rid of these side effects.

I\'m going biking today. It\'s a beautiful day here in Calgary and I plan on enjoying it. I think I\'m going to join a Zumba class too in the fall for two months to try it out.
