Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer. Up here in Buffalo, we haven't had those soaring 100 degree temps like you guys down south but we have been having the horrible close to 100% humidity days. Seems like it never stops. Makes it hard to run during the week. We did top about 98 degrees a few weeks ago but we haven't gotten close to that. Its probably 84 degrees now. I can take that. Sometimes I think these dog days of summer sets us up for those cold frigid temps in the winter months and heavy snows - blizzards and snow drifts. Back to shoveling the driveway again. Ok, lets not think about it now - its only august and the Erie county fair is in a few weeks (one of the biggest in NYS - better than the state fair in syracuse). The Erie County fair always closes up the summer before Labor day. I remember growing up that when the fair comes up, its always the thing that winds down summer. Living over on Lake Erie, there was always the hustle and bustle of summer - people picnicing, cottage summer rentals, beach clubs hopping. Every year the day after labor day, its like the population died and everyone left Angola - turned into a peaceful place to ride my bike without crowds everywhere. thats what I miss the most about living right on the lake and the late summer months (then we had to start school - that sucked all together..LOL!). I certainly don't miss the driving (which is why I don't live down there anymore). Memories......
Running has been so so. I did manage to run tuesday again (I hadn't ran since the previous tuesday). I was 3 minutes slower than the previous week. This week I did 53 minutes for 3.5 miles. I need to get out there tonight and run 3.8 miles. I need to increase the milage alittle bit 4.5 on sunday morning. Im gonna try and get out at 7:30-8am. I also ran with the Wed night group. Boy they are fast, left me in the dust - thats for sure. I did my own thing. I kept with the 2 miles. the minute the tue night group moves up to 4, I am going to increase the wed night run to 2.5 miles. I am trying to keep the wed night group as a recovery run (at least until the tuesday night group ends at the end of sept). The weather has been quite humid (even though we had a few slightly humid days - doesn't matter - it still cuts right through you). Wednesday it was sprinkling and misting alittle bit. Made it for an easier run. Love to run in humid, mist raining days. It wasn't horrible. Finished in 27 minutes for 2 miles. I should have fresher legs today after a day of rest yesterday. I have to print off the map for the 4.5 mile route (it will vary alittle bit). Might have to drive the thing to see where I end up. Something to do tomorrow. I think if I continually run the 4.5 miles, those 3.5 mile runs will get easier and easier. Especially if the run/walk group turns into a run group. Not certain if the tue night group will actually get to 6 miles by sept. I think they will run on tuesday night at 4.5 miles total. Which is fine by me. The thought of running 6 miles this year wasn't a plan for me. My thought would be if I still feel really good - I might do the Utica Boilermaker 15K again next year. We'll see as time gets closer. Thats 9.4 miles. Not 100% sure about that yet. Its a fun race, lots of people (whole 9 miles) cheering you on. Highly recommended. For now, the next 5K race will be Linda Yalem 5K with the group in Sept. Thats always a nice run. I will get back on track today and Sunday.
Diet is back on track (3 salads a week and a snack at 3pm). Losing lots of inches rather than weight so I am still steady at 179 lbs. Probably lost about 8-10 inches and now down to a size 14. Hopeful that the higher mileage will jack myself down even more.
I won't journal about work today because I am at work. I'll bring everyone up to speed at my next journal. I will try and get back on this weekend sometime.

Keep up the good work Jen. I\'m so proud of you. Your mileage will get there and a good rule of thumb is to increase it no more than 10% per week. I think that while running around 4.5 miles now that 6 miles by the end of next month is more than feasible without getting burned out or coming up against injuries.
Keep it up!!! You\'ll be able to run that 15K before you know it.
