Hi Everyone, So sorry I haven't been on DS for awhile. Life just gets in the way of things. I have been stopping by for a minute here and there. I have a micromanager, thats always popping into the office for various things - I need to concentrate on my work. Things have been going so-so. I think documening things on a steno notebook has been helping me a bit. I am no where perfect. I am expecting next years eval to be a bunch of 2's and 3's. I have to have stellar performance in order to get 4's. Not gonna happen on Jen's (my new boss) watch. She is still documenting and keeping things in my personnel file in her office. I haven't had a chance to check it lately but I will the next time she is off. I can't fret about how things are going at work. If I continue to do so, I won't be any help to the department and myself. the last thing I need to do is return to employee assistance and speak to a councelor. Its important to keep the lines of communication open. Own up to anything that goes wrong immediately.
What I've been doing? Lots of running, reading my kindle. Stuff like that. Somedays the last thing I want to be on is my home computer upstairs.
Last weekend, I went to Mercer, PA with my friend Jen to visit her father. He is now in a nursing home. It took us about 2 1/2 hrs from the city of Buffalo to get there. When we got there, Sara (the step mother) was home with her grandson. He was spinning like a top - running around the house. Nice kid. About 6:30, she took him home and we went to visit her father. When we got there, I was pleased to see that he was no longer out of it (drug fog - dilotted) and wearing his diabetic shoes to help him walk. He did get up to go to the bathroom but he looked stronger while walking. We stayed for an hour then went back to the house. We sat in the sunroom and watched TV, sara was still gone but she had to pick up her granddaughters (8 and 12) for the weekend. They came back around 10. We talked about going on the pontoon boat (the house is on a small lake). She asked us if we had our suits, neither of us did. I read my kindle for the rest of the evening, then went to bed. We were concerned that the granddaughters were over and that we didn't have a place to sleep and we were planning on going home the next day if that was the case. Sara said her granddaughters will sleep with her in her room. Ok, we decided to stay until Sunday. Mostly because I had my cat at Toms for the weekend and it would have been too dark to drive. The next day, we got up. Sara made us eggs and bacon. It was good. Then went into the sunroom to read my kindle. Jen said that we should be going on the pontoon boat in a little bit. We went on it around 12:30pm. Rode around the lake. Lots of nice houses with lots of windows. We took a few spins around and threw the anchor down so the girls can go swimming (with life preservers). They had a ball - swam underneath the pontoon boat. It was great watching. We got back, Jen called her father. Apparently he was having a bad day (of course he is, he is drying out from the dilotted) and decided to make some sandwiches and bring them over. We had a nice lunch in his room (he didn't want to come out). stayed there until around 5. Came back. Sara and the girls were still at the beach (they went to the beach down the street). Came back at 6, Sara ordered pizza for us (again I thanked her for that). it was thin - I don't know how many pieces I ate. the girls polished the cheese pizza. I then went into the sunroom and read my kindle again. Sara came to talk for alittle bit, we talked about her family and I talked about mine. She seemed generally interested. About 9:30pm, I was so tired and went to bed. Turned on the TV in the twin bedroom and fell asleep in seconds. Woke up the next morning around 8, Jen was already up and we ate some toast for breakfast and left around 9:30am. Overall, I thought it was a good weekend.
On tuesday, I returned to work and about 1:30 (after lunch), Jen calls me and tells me that Sara has been lying to her father about us. She said that we were demanding to be on the pontoon boat, expecting her to entertain us, and licoring it up in the basement with her alcohol. Excuse me. That was nothing out of the sort whatsoever. Where did she think this was happening. All of it was total lies. Then Jen's aunt Jackie calls and tells Jen she is a FUCKING LEECH and hangs up on her. I heard this aunt is kinda crazy anyways. In one case, I do have to agree with her aunt jackie - she is a moocher and a leech to a point. Its one thing that I am thinking this about Jen but her own family. Wow! When I came and picked her up for this trip, she gives me this line that VA hospital screwed up on their checks and she wouldn't be paid until next week. So.....I had to put gas $ in my car (I went to the indian reservation and put $40.00) and paid for tolls. I told her that "I'll let it go this time, I want to see your dad, but next time we go down and you have no $$ for gas - the trip is off immediately, I don't care if you have some urgency to get down there" She will have to find her own way. One of the other reasons we went down there is that Jen is trying to get her dad up here in Buffalo NY to a senior apartment closer to her. She had to have him sign some forms. He is in his right mind when he said "if I don't feel that I can make it in an apartment, I will go into a nursing home". How many people actually say that or be able to think of that. He did tell us about a different nursing home about 15 miles away that was relatively nicer than where is he is now. There was no beds. He told Jen that he might change his mind and move into that nursing home if there are beds available in the coming months. I really don't think that is a great idea - he will not have any family connections close to him in PA (Sara is selling her $600,000 house and building where her family is in Pittsburgh - they are divoraced!). I certainly not gonna drive down with her to see him in PA (my Saturn ION has 70,000 miles on it). Its not my responsibility. She is expecting me to drive her down there - without gas money (its her family!!) . I don't know what to think anymore. Her family is just too dysfunctional.
