Ashlynn
my granddaughter ashlynn has been really sick for the past week. her ped. thought she had strep but it came back negative. we have been giving her tylenol thinking that this will just pass and then i thought about her shunt and we are in the process of seeing if it might be that, it sounds like she might have surgery in the morning to replace it. she is so tiny for her age and i worry about her all of the time with just that, so adding a surgery is scary. please pray for her...

She will be as fine as she will be. One can get pretty nasty blood infections with shunts, TPN sites and such. They are, usually, quite curable and easy to get rid of. Sometimes, they can get rather serious as well; however, not to some ultimate end, unless there is flesh-eating virus about. So, not to worry. She will be fine . . . I believe in the work of doctors who are conscientious and caring. They saved me when I had only one chance in 10,000 to live after a seriously dangerous operation that took over 15 hours. I also had more slippages into death\'s door than one would see hundreds go through in all of their lifetimes combined. I made. She certainly will as well. How old is she now, BTW? Hugs.
She is six and almost out of surgery so i am headed up to primary childrens hospitall in just a minute.
