As I Lay Under the Tree

Here is just a short peom I wrote in under 10 minutes about how I feel when I can't sleep so I lay under the Christmas tree. I haven't written any poems in a few years so I'm sorry if it isn't that good.

As I Lay Under the Tree

I lay in bed

Unable to slumber

Dreams not reaching me

As time goes on.

I notice lights

On the ceiling

And they remind me

Of an old song.

I leave my room

And go down stairs

As the light grows

brighter still.

On the cold floor

As I lay

I look upĀ

And feel a chill.

I am in a forest

In the night

The stars twinkle

As they fly free.

Oh, the joy

Of this blessed season

As I lay

under the tree.

Favorite part: "I am in a forest in the night. The stars twinkle as they fly free." As a kid, I used to lay under our Christmas tree too. : ) Your description captures exactly how I felt. You have talent...keep writing!

Wow, just saw this. beautiful. so imaginative and engaging, I feel like i'm right there with you. I like the line, the stars twinkle as they fly free. and you describe the floor as cold and looking up into the tree as if you are laying the in forest. very cool. write us some more poems please : )
