ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!
I'm so uncomfortable right now I want to scream!
To start, I have my legs bandaged (from just before my toes to my knees) because I have skin irritations in various places and because without the bandages they will swell. Actually, they will swell either way, this just helps reduce the amount. But the bandages will move down my feet so that part of them end up closer to the middle of my arch rather than right next to my toes. When that happens the bandages bulk up around that area and squeeze and make the now not bandaged correctly portion of my foot swell. And it seems to also hit some pressure points because I tend to get more muscle cramps when this happens.
I have edema in my legs (which is just another word for swelling I guess, but it seems like more to me). And my thighs have been swelling, especially my left one. It's bad enough that I had some little wounds on there that have grown because I have fluid leaking out of them on a regular basis. Like 24/7. And the leaking just keeps them open. I had various bandages put over the area on Friday, but the leaking is too much and has been leaking through everything. The entire left and back side of my pants from where the wound is to the hem is soaked.
Then because of the heat (I'm in California) and my thighs being so big, they are creating heat between them and causing chafing as well as dampness because I'm sweating, which makes it uncomfortable when my underwear rubs against the chafed spots because of the irritation. I've been trying to get comfortable on the couch for hours and it's just not working.
Last (I think), I have this small patch of dry skin on my back. You know the area on your lower back where it kind of goes inward? The spot is right there. So when I lay down at night, the bottom and top parts of that area irritate the patch. When I lean back against the couch, it irritates the spot too. When I try to sleep at night is the worst. I have spent a few hours every night just trying to find the right position to be in that the patch isn't irritated. I think what eventually happens is that I either start sweating and it gets that patch wet and the irritation then goes away or I just get so exhausted that I pass out.
Normally when I have a day like today where my bandages and thigh area are bothering me this much, I would go back to bed. Not necessarily to sleep, but just to hang out in with my phone since it would mean my feet would be elevated and it would just be more comfortable. But because of my back, I can't. I am getting a new bed soon though, a hospital bed, hopefully sometime this coming week. And I will then be able to sit/sleep more upright and that should hopefully not irritate the spot on my back. ::fingers crossed::
