April 20th - pot day

I called T-Man's school again and the person I spoke to said she'd get in touch with his instructors to find out how he's doing and will forward their replies. Only heard from two and it isn't looking good - but it's no surprise! He started out on a bad foot because he was having a hard time registering and didn't get his classes until the following week.  And the classes he chose are not only challenging but one starts at 7AM - followed by an 8AM class. Right.
So - in the meantime ~ we haven't heard from him - directly. My husband asked him if our other son, J, heard from him and he said yes. Nice of J to tell us! He called asking J to tell Dad that he needs $200.00. My husband already sent him $200 before we left on our trip 2 weeks ago for him to buy school supplies. This kid is something else. I've asked him to switch the new cell we got him (he used my upgrade) because he had been complaining how bad his is - so he has the new phone.  I realize that the chip in his old cell is destroyed but maybe we can do something about but - we can't help him if he won't contact us directly. I know he's over his head and may be ashamed that he isn't "performing" but I want to tell him that he can drop this quarter (hope we can get our $ back - working on that) and then - he can always start out fresh in the fall. I believe the main reason he's avoiding us is - he doesn't want to be pulled from that environment. In some ways - neither do we.
I am not going that path - worrying about his using - that it's increased or that he's trying other "stuff".  Been there.  And even if it is worse ...... if we can get him to agree to get help than that's great. Otherwise...
In the meantime - I pretty much finished my talk and decided I'm just going to have to read it. My husband said that I can say up front that I need to read it because it's well thought out and I don't want to miss anything. I think it will be a good one. I don't know.... we'll see......
Today is National "POT DAY" - 4/20 - so I can only bet that we won't be able to get a hold of him especially - today!

I will never forget drug testing as a counselor the day after 4/20! One of the kids I had tested the highest THC that lab had ever seen!! We did get him sent into treatment after that as it was obvious he wasn\'t getting it.
Why is it that drug users have to go through so many phones? My son had the same problem.
We haven\'t heard from our son in about amonth, either, when he offered to drive us to the airport. But he\'s 24 and does not have college as a factor in his equation.
I would vote to get T out ASAP--let the chips fall where they may as far as his self-esteem. I don\'t know him but sometimes messing up a quarter will be a good wake-up call. I know, as for the money, that my husband wouldn\'t ever just send it without him asking directly. But my husband was too generous with the bucks, also, on the whole.
I haven\'t been getting your messages very quickly on this site. I do check, and sometimes it takes a day or two! you would think we\'d have laid down some kind of \'track\' by now, where the system would be a little smoother between us.
Busy week; getting my powder room finished up today. The color is called Shrimpy, and just glows next to the dark furnishings.
Good for you for making a decision on your talk. I realize it\'s a hard thing to get through, and hard to talk about beforehand. I did spend most of a week before my first talk thinking about it often, and remembering, and by the time it rolled around for me to actually speak, it was all drilled in my head, and went OK. Keeping an eye on the clock is also something to distract a person off the subject at hand. not in a good way....
Good for you for letting go and letting God. I think it\'s so important for family of our using kids to keep their heads on. Too easy to go down the other path.
We are a little drier than April a year ago, and definitely warmer, so I\'m not complaining about our spring except to say it\'s pretty late. The sun is trying to peek out as I write, after a showery morning and last evening. lots of moss about. hOpe you enjoy slogging with that ball in the rain!! I\'m sure you don\'t notice once you get going...last night I saw several fields of kids out playing in substantial rain.
