April 20, 2011 - General update on goals
Good morning everyone,
Decided to lump 2 goals in one. Its been a busy week here at work, I should be doing right now. I will take a few moments to do this. Sonja is off tomorrow and Friday so I will be sending you my thursday group update at home thursday evening. I need to work on the Fall 2011 RN school intern schedules tomorrow and Friday. Diane declined our little meeting about it next week. Looks like I will have to find a different day. She mentioned that its sometimes hard to go to one site to another, which would make her late. I will keep this in mind.
Sunday I walked in rain/hail/sleet and did 3.7 miles or roughly an hour. It was very windy with 50 mph winds. My ears were freezing when I finished. I mapped out a route on Active.com. Its a nice route through a park across the street from me, and the neighborhood. There are a lot of cape cod homes in the neighborhood and very well kept. It was probably one of the most difficult workouts I've had in many years. Going out in the elements is very different than going on the treadmill.
Last night I did my treadmill workout. I did 2.5 grade, 1 min 30 sec at 5.1 speed then 0.00 grade, 1 min 30 sec at 5.1 speed. recovered at 3.4 speed for 2 minutes. It seemed to go alittle easier last night than Saturdays workout. saturday was the 1st day I increased the time and distance. Overall, I was on for 2.8 miles. Not too bad. I will be working on the 2.8 mile distance for at least another week and not changing until the 30th of April. Then I will be on for 40 minutes. I cooled down by going on the stationary bike for 10 minutes at 6 resistance. My heart rate went up to 167, by the time I cooled down it was 125. The rest, took care of itself.
today, I have to do another one of those 24 hr urine culture tests that my nephrologist has me doing. What fun. He just loves giving his patients the test. Once every 6 months can't hurt. Had to go down to the cafe and get a large cup to catch the urine in the bathroom. I am looking forward to seeing my #'s. Hopefully there will be some improvement. Dr Ryan will be pleased to see me drop the weight. I am hoping I will be about 10 lbs on 5/5. That would bring me to 181. Im almost there. Its only 2-3 lb difference. My appt is at 7am, we all weigh less in the AM so hopefully it will happen (thats the day after the next weighin)
Excellent news. I LOST 6 LBS today for the biggest winner. I don't know what everyone else did. Lori went down with me and lost about 2. I don't know what Todd or Mary did (Mary is teaching a respiratory class for nurses right now). Im probably the biggest winner for our group for the week. I better not expect big#'s every week. Like the tv show they say the 2nd weigh in is notorious for low #'s. Anyways, I think they will post our losses (standings) on monday. I will be off monday but I will post something Tuesday.
Next weigh in is 5/4. Wouldn't it be something if I lost another 6 lbs??

Good job, Jen, on both the weight you\'re knocking off, and on staying with the exercising! I\'ve heard that once you get used to doing all the exercises and the walk/run stuff, you don\'t want to give it up....
Maybe you\'ll be the next fitness guru!!
Whow! I\'am impressed with your progress Jen. How long has it been since you began? You are doing so well and the exercise is totally the best way to lose weight. It will start dropping off like water once you get on a regular routine, usually 2 pounds a month can be counted on once the routine is established. And it\'s not water weight either, you will begin to see the fat splattering all over the roads when you run. haha Good luck sweetie and keep up the great work!!
Todd just informed us that he lost 7.5 lbs. He beat me. I told him he needs to lose double digit.......guys lose faster than women, definitely not fair.....
You are doing wonderful. Keep going like you are and you will have the weight off in no time!
