April 2, 2011 - Jen's move
Hey everyone,
I just got back from helping Jen with her move. I got there at 8am to find the apartment a complete disaster. Nothing was done. She was in the kitchen and never touched it. I got her organized in her kitchen. The movers came at 9:30am expecting that the job would take a few hours. Nope, they quoted her about $600.00 with 6 hrs of work. She completely lost it. I wasn't about to lend her any money, she has me there (only me!). I am working like a dog, I couldn't work any harder than i did. Nothing was thrown out. We threw out about 20 bags of garbage. I can't believe she was that bad. I loaded my car by myself, she took down a few things but I did the majority of the stuff to my car. She is the slowest person alive, Think of a car driving 5 MPH. Thats Jen..... She has boxes still at the old place - she had garbage and crap behind sofas, chairs, under her bed was covered in garbage. It was horrible! She kept asking me about monday - she knew I was off the whole day for my aunts wake/funeral. I said no, I have family obligations. I know I will be done around 2pm and would like a little bit piece and quiet - not take the rest of the day to help her again. I told her i would try and get toms truck on Tuesday after work but I am thinking I might back out on that. Im just pissed because I was the only one out of everyone she knew that was available to help her out. If she had at least 2 other people, with vehicles - then we would be able to get the crap out. She claims that she had a guy willing to help out but he backed out. He's an idiot and shouldn't even be friends with the guy.
Well, I must be going to my aunts funeral. today is the 1st night. I have to be there for my godfather - he would be there for me. ITs all about my family. I don't know what I will be crying about more - Aunt Judy or having to deal with Jen's move.

Is Jen on a wheelchair or bed bound? If yes, then she needs as much help as she can get. If she is a healthy lady, she should have been the one to work her way into organization. Simply waiting for others to come to the rescue as an adult is a bit concerning if all is well.
Sounds like a really rough day! I\'m sorry for you really... I had the same questions as CMondo... if she is able bodied I\'d have a problem but if she\'s not able I kinda understand... at least she has you to care at this point. It sounds like she does indeed have a problem even with hording or something no matter what...
Very hard day you had. She should have been way more prepared. Why the heck did she have so much garbage in her place? Weird. Who would want to live like that? I hope the viewing goes okay. We are all here for you.
Wow, you are an angel. I don\'t know if I would have the patience myself. I hate moving and have had to do it 4 times in the last year. She must have been at the old place for a while for all that trash to accumulate, but hoarding might be a mild problem or laziness on her part to clean. You did a very nice thing to help a friend. I probably would have left and told her to call me when the boxes were ready. :) You have a great heart.
Hi Everyone, thanks for responding. No, Jen is an able bodied person who is able and ready to get things together. You know...the entire time I was gone grieving with the family these past 2 1/2 days, she called me several times. You and I all know why she\'s calling me. She wants to know if she can have me help her this week to get the rest of her crap out and whether or not I asked Tom for his truck. You know--- I didn\'t even mention it to Tom. My family said that I really shouldn\'t have been lifting all that much and doing all that much work - especially enlight of all the issues I\'ve had these past 8-9 months or so. Aunt Judy was closed casket so it was much better.
talked to Jen today. I asked her why she called me a half dozen times. The only thing she said was \"your voicemail at home was full\". I know she called - its on the caller ID, its my fault that my ans machine is full. thats not the point. She is suppose to get a few guys help her with a a few trucks and the old landlord put his foot down and said that she is to get her stuff out by today or else it will be thrown out.
