Approaching 19 years
On August 25, 2019, I will be entering into my 19th year of clean gime in GA.
It hasn't been all that hard a struggle, considering I've seen endless people come
and go in the groups I was attending in New Orleans.
The New Orleans situation started getting on my nerves for a number of reasons,
among them: I drove a round trip of over 140 miles to get to the meetings on time,
and LOCAL people couldn't get there on time, contiuously disrupting the sessions once
we got started; 1 or 2 people would monopolize the floor, talking about issues that had
little or nothing to do with gambling addiction; there was occasional infighting.
Thus, while I have not attended an in person meeting in several years, I still have NO
desire to gamble. I have not gambled AT ALL during the 21st century, so if I were to
relapse, assuming I won't be around for the 22nd century, then a lot of clean time and
self discipline will have been for nought.
If I can do it (living so near casinos), I think anyone can. There are SO many more interesting
and fun things to do than to gamble with real money.
